* Raffles Institution (RI) - Year 5-6
-
I sat for the O levels last year and received my results on Monday. I have a raw score of 7 points and a net score of 3 (-2 for CCA, and -2 for MSP) I got the following grades for the respective individual subjects:
English: A2 Hindi (MT): A2 Math: A2 A. Math: A1 Chemistry:A1 Biology: A1 Physics:A1
SS/Geog: A1 MSP: B3 CCA: A2
It’s pretty obvious that I messed up a good number of papers, but I figured that since I met RJC’s COP (albeit partial), that there’s no harm applying. So I put it as my first choice during the JAE. I just wanted some opinions from other more knowledgeable people on the odds of me getting posted to RJC. Here are some more details about myself:
» I am a PR.
» I don’t have HMT since I take a non-Tamil Indian Language.
Also, I would like to know how to go about appealing to RJC. They have’t uploaded much information on the admissions page. Are there two types of appeal, e.g. Academic and CCA? What are some things which I will have to fill up in the form? Do they want a personal statement? How can I make myself a stronger candidate for appeal? Thank you in advance to anyone replying to this thread for your honest opinion. -
Hi,
Help needed here. My DD has a L1R5 of 6; anyone things that I have chance to appeal with CCA (she is strong) after JAE posting?
Please guide me along here as this is my 1st time and not familiar what I can do about it. -
Hi,
it is RI (JC) not RJC.
Which CCA are you referring to? She will need to be highly exceptional (eg. National Sportwoman) before she stands a chance. Many who are strong in CCA have already gotten in thru DSA. -
Hello! I’m wondering what my chances are of getting into the institution with a nett of 3. Is there anyone out there who have managed to enter RI with the same nett score? Can you share if you had done it via JAE or appeal?
Thank you in advance -
“She is strong” but how strong? You need to be specific.
How heavy can she go for deadlifts? 200kg would be impressive. In the end however, strength alone might not be adequate. -

6 is very high if you are aiming for RI jc. There are many people with very strong ccas and even talents that are also appealing there. With 6 points, you just made it to acjc, and u have the highest score there. Why are you so ambitious? Going there does not guarantee all As in A level, just study hard in any jc and you can score as. Ps you need at least 3 to get into Ri jc.Hi,

the Officer in charge of Admission handling \"Q & A\" mentioned that if students got 3 points : they can appeal into RI, with their CCA.
But whether can get in or not will depend on -
- number of vacancies, left available, after JAE posting,
- how competitive is this year batch,
ie. how many students will be appealing ?
Since your dd so keen in RI, just proceed to appeal.
if you don't try, never know, right ?
btw, it is called RI, not RJC (old terminology, years ago) when the first original site was located at 53, Mount Sinai, years ago.
After shift to current site (Marymount) : it is called RI -
Hi, forgotten to reply. Appeal successful. She is with Ri now. Thank u all for assisting.
