Yes! You are right π Iβm not sure if she can only take 3 S. Thank you so much for sharing!
This info is from 2 years ago.
It is not compulsory to do lit, geog, history. You can take a special programme (sp).
Eg phy and sap, along with the other 6 compulsory subjects, or bio and mep + 6 compulsory subjects.
This is 2L, 2M, 2S, 2H/SP.
I&A is a humanities subject.
I am guessing your concern is whether you can take 2L, 2M, 1H (i&a), 3S? -

My girl also asked for help at sec 4. Did not find mavis helpful as she had to wait for her turn to clarify doubts. Turned to one to one ex rgs tutors. Much more effective.
Hi parents, my girl will be in Sec 4 next year and based on her performance thus far, I think there is a strong need for tuition for Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
Mavis at Kovan offers tuition for IP students. Good to consider Mavis? Anyone has any experience from there?
Alternatively, any recommendations for tuitions, reasonably priced?
There are ex students from Raffles JC/NUS offering tuitions. Would be helpful to know if anyone has engaged such tutors and whether the tutee found it useful.
Thanks in advance

Hi Reenie,
Hi,
Anyone can share the subject combination for Y3? Is it compulsory to do one humanities example Lit/Geo or History? Is I&A consider as one humanities subject? Thank you!
Mandatory subjects - EL, HMT/MT, 2 Maths (Math 1, Math2), 1 science (Chem), I&A and 1 humanities (Lit/His/Geo).
8 Subject Combinations:
2 science + 2 humanities
2 science + 1 humanities + MEP/SAP
9 Subject Combinations:
3 science + 2 humanities
2 science + 3 humanities
2 science + 2 humanities + Special Programme
Note: GPA computation is only for 6 subjects consisting of Core 5 &1 best subject. The Core 5 subjects are: EL, HMT/MT, 1 Math, 1 Science, 1 Humanities. Chemistry is compulsory in all 8 & 9 subject combinations. Special Programme - MEP/SAP/CSP/MSP/3rd Lang.
It is compulsory to do 1 of these humanities (Lit/Geo or History) and I&A, for triple science combination. Yes, I&A is a humanities subject.
Hope this helps! -

The maths and sciences PPAs in yr4 cover yr3 topics as well so when preparing for PPAs, they would also revised the yr3 topics. But still, seeing the mountain of files when she was preparing for EYAs, I also wonder how she was going to manage. Somehow, they will manage. Now thinking of what subjects to take in yr5.
Hi parents.
Happen to take a look at the Assessment framework for the sciences and maths for Yr4, and realised that the tests and EYA include all Sec 4 and Sec 3 topics. However unlike O level classes(where I think they would have finished teaching all new topics by end of term 2 or beginning of term 3), the lessons teach new topics all the way up to end of term 3, and EYA is in 3rd or 4th week of term 4.
Just wondering if there is any time at all for revision for the Yr 3 topics?
Thanks! -

Thank you so much for your reply. I've just come back to the forum after a time away.
My DD is currently in Y1, here is my observation.
1) are girls generally helpful towards one another?
Yes, but students must take own initiative to ask or seek help from classmates or teachers.
2) Do teachers really teach? Or do they assume the girls are bright enough to undertake self-learning.
Yes and yes, but somewhat faster I think, and they do have certain expectations from RGS girls.
3) Is the Higher Chinese standard manageable?
Almost every Y1 Chinese students at RGS takes HCL. Based on their teacher's feedback, majority of RGS student should be able to manage. (may be with some help from tuition of course)
4) Are you happy with the way the school is run?
my DD is happy. Some may complain about the long queue during recess and lunch time.
5) Do your girls sleep enough or is school work too fast-paced and gruelling?
For our case yes, except on some CCA day where my DD may need to sleep slightly later to finish her schoolwork. I was told Yr 1 and Yr 2 are honeymoon phases at RGS, so I think it will be fine for most. -
Curious to know what the RGS experience is? Find out at our Braddell campus Open House on 19 November 2022 (Saturday) from 8.30am to 1.30pm.

Hi,
May I know from which year onwards does RGS start prepping for A levels? Do they only start prepping in Y5-6 or they start in Y3-4?
Trying to understand the advantage that the IP track have over the regular Express track of O Levels / A Levels.
Thanks in advance!
