yes....the MOE H3s are the descendant or reincarnation of the S Papers of my (our) times....

There is now a new variant, got a university-taught H3 as well. those are modules taught by NUS/SMU/NTU that can be counted as a H3.

Ah... the indomitable S papers! :nunchuk:
Students who took those are really special!

            Hi Parents!

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with H3s, and how was it? Did it entail a lot of time and effort, and does it complement the relevant H2 subject?

I understand that it is not important (or even considered) for local university entry, even for competitive courses.

I am wondering whether scholarship boards look at H3s, or are they no longer necessary? (During my time, to get the PSC overseas scholarships, you do need S papers, but I think this is no longer the case?)

Apart from Cambridge, do H3s help in overseas university applications?

            Thank you!
Found this article written in 2021. Should be relatively up to date:

And there seems to be an existing thread on H3 already:

Although UK universities are academic centric, there are students who got in Cambridge/Oxford/Imperial without H3. However, there are many applicants from Singapore taking H3 so you really need to distinguish yourself (portfolio, Olympiad medals, admission tests/interviews, ...) to show your passion and competency in the subject if you are not taking H3.

PSC scholarships -> Academic performance are just part of selection criteria. It was reported that some President's Scholars were not straight As students. So I would say having H3 or not is no longer necessary.

STEM-related scholarships (e.g. A*STAR, DSTA, ...) -> If it is not explicitly mentioned in the criteria, then it is similar to above [there are many students taking H3 so you really need to distinguish yourself (portfolio, Olympiad medals, admission tests/interviews, ...) to show your passion and competency in the subject if you are not taking H3].

There are many students taking H3 so statistically wise, many scholars take H3 (especially STEM-related).

                  All the best.

How many students in Hwa Chong take up H3 (Bio or Physics) ?
