The Frog Leg Porridge shop at Cheong Chin Nam Rd sells sambal kangkong at $9++. I brought my pot to save from paying the container. It was quite a big amount of veg even for 3 adults.
Ok ...so cny better don't order kailan, chicken, seafood..order pork, taugeh and kangkong ba..think better check price first also. -
Nowadays, even at hawker centre or coffee shop, also can get chopped. I went to a newly open coffee shop near my house for late supper last Sat, I ordered a slice of fish, a portion of steam egg and a portion of pork chop from the mixed vegetables rice stall. It costed me $10.00.

Iet's breakdown the cost..pork chop meat I think easily $15/kg (let's assume) at ntuc? 200g is $3 raw meat. Fish say $3.50. 1 egg say $0.30 plus $0.6 minced meat round up $1. $7.50 + rice $0.70=$8.2 all raw ingredients haven't cook?

$91 (Kai lan), is clearly a rip off !
They put gold or diamond in???
Can report to mata for such a case?
1)
Normally, when u go restaurant to eat, one tend to ask for costs of seafood.
Eg.
When u ordered
( Fish, prawn, crab, lobster, cray fish, sotong, squid, etc).
But, seldom do you ask people (chef) for costs of vegetables.
Why ?
Because
one would think that the costs of vegetables, \" is around there, wan lah ! \" You buy vegetables from the wet market, how much does it cost you ?
2) they just simply pushed the blame onto the waiter, made waiter the scapegoat (bear the brunt) of everything,
Instead of
apologising, for over charging vegetables !
The waiter himself may not even know that the kai lan is going to cost $91
Never mind, to this restaurant owner. You can rip off customers, at outrageous price ! But because of your greed, people will remember the name of your restaurant, start to boycott eating there. End up you lose business, through your sheer greed & folly. -

whenever u see a stall
very few people buy from, usually 2 reasons :-
1) either the food not nice
or
2) very expensive.
So,
before order anything,
always walk an extra mile, with wisdom !
That is,
ask for the breakdown of costs, first.
Many unscrupulous stall owners are simply using inflation, as a excuse CONVENIENTLY to jack up their price sky high, way above the norm as daylight robbery, during this season.
.
Yes, everybody is aware of inflation going on. We are not dumb.
But still,
there is a sensible difference between
reasonably raised costs (prices) of food
vs.
Greed (for $)
That $91 (kai lan) case, is ridiculous ! Definitely, un-justifiable pure greed ! -
The most outrageous we have had was $120 for 6 bbq prawns at Newton food center. That’s the first and last time we order food (when price is not listed) without asking for price.

Yeah... but we forget they are a business that buys in bulk so they should enjoy some bulk discounts. Where do hawkers get their raw ingredients from?
