Friday, 18 November 2022
Late October / early November,
is a busy time period for a lot of Transfer movement going on, in and out of primary schools.
The Transfer school processing itself,
will depend on Total number of candidates, who have applied to seek Transfer into the same, identical primary school.
The more competitive the primary school is, the longer processing time required,
especially
if the school has received \"high mountain piled up, highly\" Transfer Application Form requests, from parents all over Singapore.
That means,
on condition
If your child get short listed for a successful school Transfer,
parents will receive phone call directly from the \"new\" school Admin (General Office),
anytime,
from
the 3rd week of October onwards
to
latest, the 2nd week of November, to
1) bring your child down to see the VP (Academic) / or Principal, for a short onsite \"face to face\" interview.
The Interview will last around 15 minutes, with your child.
Towards end of the interview,
VP / P will ask your kid, \"Do you have any questions, for us ? \"
2) After your child's interview is over, the VP or P will want to see you (parent) next, to
a) ask parent :
Can you tell us,
why does your kid want to transfer school ?
Even though reason(s) for filling up inside the Transfer Application Form have already asked u these qns before, still,
during the face-to-face interview with parent, this same question will pop up again.
And
b) ask parent :
Do you have any \"burning\" questions, for us ?
3a) in the event
parents have applied for more than one primary school to seek Transfer for their kid
And
in the event your child indeed have received more than one successful school Transfer, then
parents can bring the successful school Transfer \"Offered\" form back home,
have a chat with your kid,
to decide (consider) which school, u eventually truly want to accept ?
3b) But in the event that u have already made up your mind, which school ultimately your kid want to accept the transfer, what's next?
After the interview is over,
the new school will pass u a Form, to go back to your kid's \"old\" (current) school, to submit to the General Office, to inform them that your kid wish to withdraw from the \"old\" school.
Then,
your \" old \" school Admin staff will get their Principal to sign the Form,
so as to release your kid to the new school.
4) After the Principal (old school) has signed the form,
next,
parent to bring this signed form back to the newly Transferred school.
\"New\" school Admin staff will submit this Transfer Form to MOE (Ministry of Education) , to effective the final last lap, of the
entire Transfer school process.
5) On MOE side,
once they received this Form, they will update your child's particulars and details, inside their MOE computer database in the IT department at HQ (Buona Vista), to reflect the name of your kid's \"new\" primary school, no longer the \"old\" school.
6) Next,
parents can proceed
to buy
new ( school uniform + new textbooks ) for their child.
Also, arrange for a new school bus Transport, if u need to.
Look forward to start a brand new year 2023, in a new school. Everything is going to be new !

Parents can apply for more than one school for their kid, to seek Transfer. But, in the event if more than one offer come, u got to decide : which one, do u truly want

say, eg.
your kid has applied Transfer,
for 4 schools :-
a) Nanyang primary (SAP + GEP school)
b) Nan Hua primary (SAP + GEP school)
c) Rosyth primary (Non-SAP + GEP school)
d) St Nick (SAP + Non-GEP school)
Our school (St Nick) has received \"Mountain piled up, highly\" Transfer Application requests from All level, at (end of P2, P3 to end of P4).
We do not accept Transfer, at end of P5, because too close to PSLE. The run way is too short, towards PSLE.
At end of Primary 3,
our school often received
many Transfer Application requests from students
who have either
- a)
passed Round 1 GEP test but failed in Round 2 GEP test,
- b)
although at the same time, our school also concurrently received several Transfer requests from P3 students,
who did not pass Round 1 GEP test, too. -
Our Affliation COP (St Nick) for the Secondary O-level track, is … AL 14
Question
If a P6 St Nick primary school student has failed her PSLE subject Standard Chinese (pu hua),
Eg.
let’s say this pupil had scored AL 8, in her PSLE (Standard Chinese)
but
had scored an AL 1 for each of her PSLE subjects (English, Maths, Science),
can this pupil then
still be able to go back to her affliated St Nick Secondary (O level) track, inspite of having failed her PSLE Chinese ?
Answer
Yes
On condition that, as long as she is still able to meet her Affliation COP, at AL 14.
In this case,
her PSLE score is
(3 + 8 points), equal AL 11.
AL 11 still falls within AL 14.
So, Yes,
this P6 student is still able to go back to her affliated St Nick Secondary (O level track),
provided she has put St Nick (O-level) as her #1 school,
for the purpose of enjoying the privileged "Affliation" status, inside her listing of making Secondary schools’ choices.

Based on AL PSLE marking scheme :-
AL 6 : (45 to 64) marks.
Do you notice that actually,
this range is very wide ?
AL 7 : (20 to 44) marks
AL 8 : below 20 marks -
Who are the P6 students, that failed PSLE (Standard Chinese) ?
They can be :-
1) students who encountered a learning difficulty, or facing a handicap when comes to learning languages.
2) students who are not interested in Chinese language at all, hence don't bother.
3) students who did put in effort to study hard for Chinese, but somehow facing an up-hill struggle.

what are her chances if we opt st nick O level as 1st choice . cut off point for last year was AL9 (M) for Express O level

All P6 SNGS students who choose O-level under affliation will enter first, as long as they are able to meet AL 14.

AL 9 (Merit)
This is the advantage,
of joining a primary school that is affliated to her Secondary.
Note that affliation offer is applicable only for the O-level track. There is NO affliation, for the IP track.

To answer your questions :-
1) streaming exercise only takes place, at the end of Primary 4.
No streaming takes place,
at the end of
(Primary 3 nor at Primary 5).
Thus,
P3 students moved up into P4, and remained inside the same class. But,
some subject Teachers can change, when pupils moved up from P3 into P4.
Likewise, P5 students moved up into P6, & remained inside the same class, to prepare for PSLE.
But, some subject Teachers can change, when students moved up into P6.
2) No,
our school (St Nick) does not fix class names, for the two Top P5 classes.
Instead, we changed the names of these Top two P5 classes,
from batch to batch,
or from year to year.
However,
in some other primary schools, Example,
in Maha Bodhi primary school, another SAP school,
they do fix their Top P5 classes.
I recalled that one of them is ...
P5 (class Integrity).
3) Our school give various types of MOE Edusave award, mentioned below, inside the hyperlink.
Other primary schools, more than 100+ primary schools in Singspore, also give the similar type of award, because
all these awards come from the same, identical MOE (Ministry of Education, Singapore).
a)
At the end of each year, in November,
all primary schools' Principal(s) will submit the names of pupils from their own school, to receive these various type of MOE Edusave awards, for \"Singapore Citizenship\" students only. Not for any (PR nor foreigner nor International) students status.
b) Once MOE received the names of all these awardee ( pupils ), submitted individually, by all the 100+ primary schools in Singapore, MOE will start centralised processing.
Example
say,

pupil X (Wang Su Yan),
from Mayflower primary school,
received the Top 10% P5 cohort level award, and this pupil stay in Ang Mo Kio Block 180, Avenue 4.
5)
Pupil Y (Chen Mei Yin),
from CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' primary school, also received Top 10% P5 cohort level award,
and this pupil stay in Ang Mo Kio Block 163, Avenue 4.
6)
Pupil Z (Amos Yao Zhi Zhong),
from Anderson primary school,
also received Top 10% P5 cohort level award,
and this pupil stay in Ang Mo Kio, Block 171, Avenue 4.
So, what does MOE officer from the Exams department do ?
MOE official
will then compile a list of names of awardees by residential area,
and in turn
give this name list to an officer in charge, inside the relevant Community Centre (CC), to process. This CC officer will then notify these awardees by writing letters to inform them,
when (which date and time) to receive the award from their zonal MP in January or February, next year 2023.
MP is the Minister, in charge of that area or zone.
That's how,
pupils (X, Y, Z) above,
from 3 different primary schools, end up receiving their award from their MP, say,
from Kebun Bahru Community Centre, in Ang Mo Kio area, sometime next year, held either in 2023 January or February.
