I think what he shared is similarly applicable to sports.

        You will need:
        Talent. Obviously.
        Interest. Ditto.
Portfolio. Similar, but a sportsman 'portfolio' would be the number of competitions / placings / medals.
Art school. For sports, that would be 'club'. However, not all sports would have an external club to join.
Participate & be recognized. As per above.
        Be articulate. Self explanatory.
        Find a \"hero.\" A sporting 'idol'.
Academic performance counts. Should be equally comfortable in his / her studies.
Know the school. Preferably understand how the school had performed in previous competitions.
Know your child. Understand your best position (for some sports), strengths and weaknesses.

Maybe it is more difficult for parents / kids to share about DSA \"failures\", but okay, here's my DD's experience.

Applied for DSA at three schools - was not successful at any. Did not get CO or WL offer.
            Profile:
            - Primary School Team Captain
            - Zonal Competition, 2nd; did not win anything in the Nationals
            - P5 Edusave Scholarship, i.e. top 10% of Pri School
            - No club, no SNAG participation
            - Prefect, the little New South Wales competition certificates here and there
            - Eventual PSLE results qualified her to enter two out of the three schools she tried to DSA to.
She entered her Sec Sch eventually through S1.

Thanks so much for sharing Doodbug.

That's good that your DD managed to get into her dream school with her own abilities 🙂

What I wanted to know is that , are kids struggling hard in IP schools after they have DSAed (sports) into these schools (esp when they score is below the cut off for these IP schools) or they are able to cope well with peers in the same environment,

Should we aim high on these schools when offer is given or should we pick a mid tier school to play safe. hmm
eg, AL 12, will kids struggle in IP school if gotten a CO.

...The other 'easy' method for portfolio generation would be digital images / digital manipulation (aka photoshopping). However, it is not necessary the easiest for children at this stage, especially if they have not been exposed to the different software or possess the necessary hardware / equipment...
                CapCut, Picsart, ibis Paint?

                  Depending on your OS:
Affinity Photo, Fotor, GIMP, Luminar AI, PaintShop Pro, Pixelmator, Pixlr

Yah. Procreate is also one of the digital artist tools.

Depends on child’s learning style and motivation. I have seen sports kids hothoused both in sports and lots of tuition to marginally meet/below the COP of IP schools but did not eventually thrive in the program. I have also seen sports kids quite below cop of ip school
With no tuition since pri Sch and a self-starter, progressing well in IP schools.
Which IP Sch are u considering? Not all IP schools are the same in terms of intensity of work or curriculum or promotion criteria.
