I've always wanted to go to Hokkaido. For me, the June weather would be better; I prefer 10 - 20 degrees C range when travel.

Tokyo is still on my list of stops. Osaka, Hiroshima, Fukuoka unlikely to go again...
me too; am comfortable with 10 to 20 C. Below 10C, it will become a torture for me.

10-20dC is not suitable for coats 😁 leh. Try to drive within Hokkaido, I'd recommend. If you are also visiting Honshu, fly domestic unless you looove shinkansen/ trains/ train stations & have much patience. Tokyo I feel is absolutely fantastic for shopping & gourmet, cos it's sooo much easier to manoeuvre as compared to Osaka. Osaka people (ki ga tsuyoi ?) I also appreciate less 😬

Lavendar bloom is during Jul/Aug at Farm Tomita?
I emailed and was told nothing much to see except some flowers in its greenhouse in late Mar.

Also a bit challenging to go Furano via public transport and we may give this place a miss.
March may have some snow .
                Go lake Toya .
The scene n feel of light snow falling when dipping in outdoor onsen 🙂

I try to avoid (below 10C) if possible. I've been in Tokyo a couple of times in Jan-Feb when it has been around 0 - 10 degrees C. I guess it was OK because still no snow but still not my preferred temp.

I think (?) better views of Mt Fuji this time of the year though.

You mean 10dC is too warm to break out all the down coats and stuff? I much prefer pants, a long sleeve shirt, and a sport coat/blazer 😄 .

I try to avoid driving at all costs. Last time driving kept driving on the wrong side of the road and ran into a pillar when parking :rotflmao: :rotflmao: . HK and NYC (Manhattan specifically) are (or at least were) two of my other preferred destinations for no driving, eating, and convenience.

My dh enjoys driving in US the best . not so many impatient or rude drivers, esp in our neighboring countries .
I won’t drive in Hokkaido in winter , the weather can be v erratic n unpredictable, worst is we dun understand Jap so can’t check weather real time forecast fr radio station in car .
The train n ski bus are quite convenient

Different strokes for different folks, and different ages too! My husband and I did a lot of driving in earlier years (he drove, I navigated), in western countries. He was OK driving on either side of the road, and both of us had more energy and better eyesight then! We also avoided driving in cities and drove where the roads were less crowded.

Now at nearly 60, we don't have as much energy, and focusing on driving in unfamiliar places and reading unfamiliar road signs is getting more difficult, not to mention that our reaction times are slower. In our recent trip to Rome, we went by train on trips outside the city where we would have probably have driven were we 10-20 years younger. Driving gives more flexibility and freedom, but we find it more stressful and tiring now.
