You can only appeal if you meet the school’s COP.
Thanks. As we cannot go to SAP schools, our choices at AL8 is limited.
I could choose Cedar O-, but the school is far-far away from home and doesn't make sense.
Last 2 choices are Swiss cottage (stone throw distance from home) and Bukit Panjang.
Let us hope for the best.
Any statistics about balloting (among SC?)
Also, most schools have a process for appealing. How it works out (if we get balloted out and still trying through appeal)?
Your best chance is to bank on your first choice since the second and third are unlikely to be in your favor when it comes to rank choice tie-break, assuming all COP remains the same. As such, it would seem that SCGS O would be your best option as the first choice.
Personally, I wouldn’t discount CGSS O. It really isn’t that difficult nor take a long time to get to Woodleigh from Bukit Batok. -
DD scored AL11. Choices as follow:
1. St Marg COP 11
2. Crescent COP 11
3. CHIJ STC COP 13
4. Tanjong Katong Girls 11
5. Nan hua 11
6. Paya Lebar Methodist 13
Any opinion is appreciated 😊 -

Your DD should be eligible based on the MOE info. From what I've seen, the Eligibility Letter has both HMT and Third Language. If really not there, I am not sure why. Perhaps some others can clarify if similar situation (meet MOE criteria but not showing up for some reason).
Separate letter only indicate 3rd language choices. No mention of higher mother tongue. Is it automatically being offered based on MOE info about HMT? Eg either AL 8 or above, AL 14 or below with AL 1 or 2 in MT and Merit in HMT?
Pls advise.
My DD scored AL 2 in MT and merit for HMT. Is she eligible to take higher chinese in Sec? -

Call up MOE to clarify, is the best.

Ask them,
is it only fall within Top 30 % of entire Psle cohort, then offered HCL (Sec 1) ? -

I have PM-ed u. My DS’ score is not at that level, nono.[/quote]
I am thinking of if I can get some 'consensus' on the 'curving of Chinese' then I can write a more complete piece on how to tackle Chinese under the \"working with children who are academically challenged\" thread (would be a long piece and hope I can make time to write it out). -

My personal take on this is that your range of choices is too narrow. If anything bizarre happens to your 3rd choice school (their COP increase by 2+ points), you will probably have to settle with your 6th choice.

I would go this way -
1. One realistic dream school (COP 10, or maximum 9 last year) in hope for a surprise
2. Two or three realistic schools (COP 11, and COP 12)
3. One safe option (COP 13-14)
4. One catch-all option (COP 15-16)
And I also have the impression (pure speculation, not confirmed) that the exam this year is easier than 2021. I am seeing much better performance from my son's school. -

Doh! I just saw the HMT paragraph in the letter. I swear - I'm going blind these days.
For my boy, where he is going, I think no choice need to take HMT. But what’s the criteria to get the option for HMT?
Oh I didn’t noticed that as well. Do u know if they can drop out anytime, 3rd language.
Does anyone know what is the cop for ESIS this year?
The HMT paragraph is above the Third Language para. It says that my DS is eligible to study HMTL at secondary school level through his posted secondary school. I think he prefers to take up Spanish or Japanese instead

Mychild last year got +1 AL in CL from her expected, +2AL from her prelim. Even tho her hcl is M. So I don't think CL is curved up. Unless the kid is talkative in oral, yes. Oral will mark up overall CL.
Thanks!

Nice to hear from you, been following your sharing. Got some inspiration on learning CL too. -

U r not alone. I panicked for awhile because i didn’t see where the DSA confirmation on the results slip. Then my fren told me to look in the envelope. Lol

Finally my DD decided this plan:
AL 8
Eligibility: HMTL and MSP as 3rd lang
1. SCGS IP COP’21=8
2. CHIJ SNGS O lev COP’21=9(M)
3. SCGS O lev COP’21=8
4. CHIJ TPY COP’21=10
5. St Margaret’s COP’21=11
6. Paya Lebar MGS COP’21=11
(Btw I saw someone posted Paya Lebar MGS COP is 13, where did u get this from?)
Is this a realistic plan? :imcool: :boogie:
Please comment thank you 🙏🙏
Really appreciated
