My gal scored AL11(M); staying Hougang around.
      Does the below make sense?

      1. Nan Chiau H.S. (2021, COP=12D; 2020, COP=11M)
Qn: What is the risk of balloting with AL11M?
      2. Anderson S.S (2021, COP=10)
Qn: Make sense to risk it here; seems Andersoon COP is consistently at AL10?
      3. Chung Cheng H.S. Main (2021, COP=11M)
      4. Crescent Girls (2021, COP=11)
      5. TKGS (2021, COP=13)
      6. TKSS (2021, COP=14)

      Thx!
Hi and congrats. I think good chance for NCHS, no one can say what the ballot risk is.

Perhaps remove Anderson; Crescent even at third choice (i.e. AL11 and assume stays at AL11) may be low already. Regardless, TKGS and TKSS should be safe. I'm not sure what else to add if you remove Anderson. Hopefully some others can help you.

      Good luck!

Hougang can put Zhonghua Sec at the bottom.

I like all you put down and score and lang eligibility because we can forget. Best to also put location :siam:

Looks ok, though my personal preference would be crescent at 4.

So latest decision is to throw out all the IP?
I agree with CGS (but that’s my personal opinion and preference).

I think with a score of 8, without HMT, and a foreigner, there are only a limited number of IP schools within reach. At best, it’s only to put ONE such school at the first choice and then hope for the best.

For my boy, where he is going, I think no choice need to take HMT. But what’s the criteria to get the option for HMT?
Oh I didn’t noticed that as well. Do u know if they can drop out anytime, 3rd language.

Does anyone know what is the cop for ESIS this year?
Depends on the secondary school. Some secondary schools allow dropping of 3rd language during specific windows (usually more than once a year).

ESIS was AL5 last year. Seems to be the same this year.

7m is a better grade than 7p, so no issue with St Nicholas IP as first choice.
If you need to put something else in the 1-3, instead of Zhonghua at 6 since you are at amk and not northeast, I would go with njc, I dont know know what is the cop though.

So 1-3, St Nicholas IP, Cedar IP, NJC, in any order you like.
Then 4-6, St Nicholas O, Cedar O, Nan Chiau, in any order you like.
Thank you so much for the advice. Much appreciated.

Thank you so much for the advise.
I have checked SCGS and would consider if I put SCGS IP or St Nicholas IP as the first choice.
Personally, I like St Nicholas as stays near by.
                    What would you recommend?
                    Thank you very much.[/quote]
If your 1st choice is St Nic IP then leave it as such and can put SCGS as your 2nd choice.

Since your DD took Higher Chinese, it shouldn’t take long for her to blend into a SAP sec school environment. Plus the school is near your place which I think is a big plus. Be it St Nic or SCGS, the IP girls will eventually meet in EJC 4yrs later.

The only concern is the chance of getting into St Nic IP (COP 7P). She got 7M.
The school is just near home.

All along (since more than 10 years ago), I believe that the grade for Chinese is quite curved upwards (based on the As my son and nephew got despite their half past six levels).

When I looked at my grand niece AL3 for Chinese, I sort of confirmed my speculation even more (she is a 'half mute' during oral conversation throughout her 6 years during school's practices and usually scored around 50% with teachers' frequent comment as 'inaudible', and I gave up training her on oral as 'not value for time'), her compo is so-so maybe 65% type, listening is ok around 90%, written is OK around 90%). Her school's averaged score usually was around 70s. She cannot hold a Chinese conversation or read another Chinese word out from her textbook vocab range (I trained her only for exam purposes due to her 'limited capacity').

So this AL3 seemed like a 'curved score'. Did anyone feel similar (as in your child's Chinese score is 'better than expected)'?

                        Asking out of curiosity.

*She exceeded expectation of Eng and Chinese at AL3 and Science and Math at AL5 when I was forecasting AL5 for Languages (her Eng score in school usually around high 50s / low 60s incl prelim) and Science and an AL6 for Math (failed her Math or barely passed throughout her P6 school exams). It has been a tough 6 years of struggles for her and we are all glad that this segment ends on a higher note.
During the old days when they released National Stats for Quality Passes (A* and A), MT was usually around 7X% while the other 3 subjects (EL, MA and SC) were usually 4X%. E.g., In 2015, CL 73.1 %, EL 44.9%, MA 45.4%, SC 41.9%. The old PSLE Grade A is 75 marks and above.

If it goes by the same standard, a much higher percentage of students will get AL4 (75 marks) & better for MT than the other 3 subjects in PSLE.

However, there is no exact mapping between the old scores and the AL scores so it is not clear whether the above still applies today.

It is reported that around half of students taking standard subjects today score in the range of 75 and above when they came out with the AL score ranges.

                        Hope this helps.
