      🤷 I’m a noob here, but…
IMO this is not a fair comparison,
last yr’s question that brought up to the news is not a difficult question either.

Even tho it’s true (hard for majority) it’s just ONE particular question so it won’t affect the AL so much.

Vice versa, just bcos this year questions did not made to newspaper doesn’t mean it’s easier for everyone.

This is a good Ted Talk for this kind of situation
The Danger of a Single Story https://g.co/kgs/D6jBGU

Not everyone score well this year in the contrary previous comments said the opposite, but 10+ parents complained means the data is not enough to represent the whole cohort either 🙏

Unless there’s a valid statistic that can support such “dangerous”/misleading opinion which can affect many readers (including this year PSLE students), I think it’s not wise to make such a simulation.

Remember these PSLE 2020-2022 kids are “Covid generations” who were affected the most by the great disruptions (physically and emotionally), so I think it’s not fair to judge their papers simply like that based on only ONE controversial question that made to the news.

(Ps: my DD got AL1 in Math)
It’s a personal opinion and speculation on my part. I suppose voicing out what many parents half-suspected too.

Whether there’s moderation or not, it’s definitely useful if MOE could be more transparent about the PSLE data.

You don’t have to worry, when we mentioned about asking for a review is to review an individual paper when a parent appealed and not a nation-wide review so you can be assured that your daughter’s AL1 will not be revised.

Btw, in an earlier post, you shared that this year paper was “definitely easy”. Perhaps your daughter’s MO training since P4 helps her to do well?

I spoke to a tutor who is a former MOE tr. She heard from her friends that there were some challenging qns that the kids think was easy. These were not among the qns that were discussed or shown on YouTube.

Afew kids in my son’s school, including my son commented that paper 2 was ok but paper 1 was trickier. They didn’t say it was an easy paper. They got AL1 in the end.

Just to add that these were the qns that a lot of kids got wrong, not the ones shown on YouTube.

Most I heard gets an AL much lower. Some students who consistently has AL1 gets a 3 or more.
I still believe there is moderation to some extend even in this new AL system.
Having said that I think I will make an appeal. Though highly likely not going to change anything but just for some closure and move on 😀
If my child consistently scores AL1 in school but only manages to score AL4 for PSLE, I guess I will be shocked too and may request for a paper review.

Can parents get to see the papers when a review is requested? If yes, it would be good as Math is not subjective, straight away you can tell how many marks are assigned unlike English/Chinese papers which have subjective elements in compo/compre.

Like others have shared, it is unlikely to have a different outcome after the review but at least it brings about a closure.

Not necessary to fill up all 3.
                    Thanks for the reply.

I filled up just one choice and submitted it without issue 👍
I feel the options could have been better but since MOE categorized the languages then I just go ahead with 1 language.

LOL! Malay language is not a bad language to have. It is actually very powerful if he's keen on public/govt affairs and maybe a career in politics 🙂
