Hi all, I'm considering TKGS for my daughter for Sec 1 next year. I would like to know where do the students go for MSP (Malay special program) classes? As I noted MSP is not part of their school subjects offered.

According to the website, school ends at 2.45pm, isn't this quite late compared to other schools I heard is around 1.30 - 2.15pm?
      Thanks in advance!
Info for TKGS Sec 1 2019 batch:-

Students offering MSP will attend lessons once a week, 3 hours per session outside school curriculum time at the nearest MSP centre

      Tampines Secondary School
      Zhonghua Secondary School
      MOE Language Centre (Bishan)

      All the best.

TKGS girls have been doing very well in O-level (Economics) subject, for several batches already.
Why suddenly removed Econs, in Upper Sec 3 & 4 ?

If u say that TKGS remove Econs bec the students don't do well, we all can understand.
        But to take out Econs,
after past batches had done well in Econs ... doesn't quite make sense. Unless, there are some other underlying reasons, behind.
        If a subject is removed,
A few reasons why school chooses to do so,
Not enough students to form a class/
        Students enrolment is dwindling/
Tkgs Econs result is not ideal.

From TKGS 2021 results, can guess the reason why.

          Good morning parents.

Heard that next year there is no more econs offered. Does anyone have any info on it , if it is a just for next year or has the subject been permanently removed ? Thank you šŸ™
          fatbear,

If TKGS drop off Sec 3 Econs next year (2023), if your daughter still desire to study Econs, then she should enrol into Presbyterian High Secondary school , if she is Sec 1 (2023) next year,
          because
over there in PHS, still have Econs.

Now, left only 3 schools in entire Singapore still offering Econs, ie.

          (Temasek Secondary,
          Presbyterian High and
another Secondary school in the west)

              91.7% eligible JC.
              43.8% with 5 or more
distinctions only. Pre Covid was above 50%.

The school had stellar Econs results. For 2020, 100% of the students obtained distinctions, with over 90% scoring A1. For 2021, all students scored distinctions, except for 1 who scored B3.

My DD is an existing Sec3 Econs student in TKGS and there are 2 classes taking Econs this year which is the highest intake compared to previous years. So it is really hard to understand the reason for removing Econs as a subject.

Econs result was sterling , 43% scored 5 distinctions above.
                  Tkgs has to do something.

Makes me wonder too why the school removes this subject :scratchhead:

                      fatbear,

Is your kid studying Sec 3 next year (2023), inside TKGS ?

                      If Yes,
                      go, ask your TKGS

(school Principal / Econs HOD / VP) -

                      why removed Econs,
since the students are doing well, in subject O-level Econs ?
                      Is it an instruction,
coming from the top (MOE) ?

It is easy to obtain info readily, if your kid is already an internal student studying inside this school.

                      Otherwise,
if your kid not yet enrolled into TKGS,
                      but
want to do Econs in Sec 3,
then got to consider enrol them in one of those 3 Secondary \"co-ed\" schools, throughout the entire SG, that offer Econs, instead. Namely :-

                      - Presbyterian High

                      - Temasek Secondary

                      - another school, located in the west,
                      called \"Westwood\" Secondary school :-
