The A level system now is much more stressful than our era...A level now is for the more consistent students. Just to share my DD with net L1R5 4 score is studying like never before even after end of j1 term like now. To get a stellar A level results cannot idle for the 1.5 years and chiong only exam! This is my observation.
JC is very hard for my IP kid too, compared to Sec School.

Balloted out of RI, at NYJC now. Just decided on 1 H3 subject above 4 H2. But before taking up the H3, she already found the pace in JC much different from Sec sch.
        Hi Kimkar,

your daughter is taking H3 in which subject, at Nanyang JC ?

roughly, how many JC2 students are taking the same H3 subject, as your daughter ? More than 20 students?

Enrolled in a H3, but not sure if committed/keen on it or not. Can drop any time. The H2s are still most important / critical. Different subjects will have different level of interest in H3. Can't really generalize. Every JC uses their own criteria to determine eligibility also. The university-conducted H3 enrolment is however, solely determined by the university.

…..yes agree with u JC is the toughest 2y in the academic journey…..
Not sure why this is in the PSLE thread! Just want to say that it's only natural that every succeeding level of the academic journey is harder than the previous one. I think it would be sad if it gets easier. Some stress and striving is necessary for growth. If the child is really over-stretched and burned out, then perhaps the choice of path was not ideal, not that the path itself is a bad one for everyone.

And students who go on to competitive universities will say that A levels wasn't too bad in comparison.

Apology to continue in this thread, just to reply. She s doing H3 Lit although she is doing 3 other H2 science. Strange I thought but she said H3 Lit is easier to do, no need to attend lesson, OTOT (own time own target) . LIT H3 is v low number, amidst other subjects. Total H3 students for her JC is about 80.

oh, MOE H3 Literature is research-based! Hence OTOT. MOE H3 History is similar - also research based.
