What is the catch? Anyone has a One account, please share your experience… Sounds a little unbelievable.. (spend $500 a month and deposits of $75k gets 7.8% interest?)[/quote]
And credit their salary of >$1600.

      For me, I can't qualify - I don't have a salary (self-employed), and don't spend >$500 on credit cards!

True. We do other stuff as our income and expediture is so non-standard.

Those acc which give high interest rates come with lots of t&c. Hence I give up despite being silly.

              Spend $500 cc n 3 giro transactions , not difficult ….
But I dun pay bills , so not convenient for me.
I think the biggest hassle is to change giro bank Accounts fr another bank to Uob if we are to switch.ours is with DBS multiplier ( similar concept) n stand chart bank, hopefully these banks increase savings rate too.
But incre savings rates mean mortgage rate also increases 😞

No, it's not being silly. If you need to spend more or take a lot of trouble to rearrange your finances in order to get the higher interest, is probably isn't worth it. I will only make changes if it's likely to be fairly long-term - too toublesome to switch and adjust every time there is a better offer. And it's likely that other banks (the ones we are already with) will make similar offers soon as they have to be competitive.

My husband's other reason for not pursuing these is that he is waiting for opportunities to put more in investments now that interest rates seem to nearly peaking (don't ask me the rationale, that's just what he tells me).

Can switch salary & move bill pymts thro credit cards but troublesome. The killer is the tiering system. Criteria to meet every tier then get full 7.8%. Hv to read the fine prints.

am really silly; i like passbook a/c bec i enjoy seeing the machine printing the transactions on my passbook. Passbook a/cs give the lowest or negligible interest rates.

I like them too! We had one for each of my children when they were in preschool. Moving along, now we do online banking and no longer use the books.

The reason of using a passbook is I can trace all the transactions.

For online, I doubt u can trace a couple of years ago. I dislike banks sending me the monthly statements bec I would hv to file them.
Yes, I do hv a/c w/o passbooks and I would have to view the transactions online.
