Hi. Not possible to say for sure. Last year, Cedar Girls O COP was AL9 and Cresent Girls COP was AL11. If the COPs remain the same, it (put Cedar Girls O as 1st choice) won’t reduce her chance of entering Crescent Girls (i.e. all AL10s will be posted before any AL11s regardless of choice order).

However, in the event that Crescent Girls COP improves to AL10, then it could reduce the chances as she would be AL10 2nd choice.

Best of luck, hope she will get what she is looking for!

Crescent Girls would be my preference if the school will not move away from pure express streams in 2024. Cedar’s environment felt uncomfortable, the neighbouring buildings are secured with concertina wires on fences. Just my personal view. Good luck with the selection!

For me, the move from pure express to express + NA (or G3 + G2) in 2024 isn’t a big deal from the non-pure express itself.

I have wondered whether the NA class will be an additional class or if the express intake will be reduced (could cause COP to rocket?)? In the past, some have mentioned that all Express tend to have more subject combinations in Sec 3, perhaps that is also something to keep an eye on.

Regardless, I would still keep the school in the running if it is a viable option for 2023 or 2024+ (although I guess 2023 choices have already been made).

Those neighboring buildings are probably the specialist Gurkha army camp. It has been there for ages. Definitely not a prison just in case u were worried about that.

              Actually,
how does MOE S1 posting system do the balloting? This part, not clear.

Assuming that this year Crescent Girls' Secondary COP (cut off point) went up from 11 to 10,

now, let's say there are 2 groups of students :-

group 1 : are those who have selected Crescent Girls' school as their first choice, while

group 2, are those who have picked Crescent Girls' school as their 2nd choice.

              So,
how does MOE conduct computer balloting, assuming that say, for
              Example

this year, COP (Crescent Crescent Girls) indeed move up to 10 points, cut off ?

              Is it
select students who are Singapore Citizens first,

              a) then,
throw all the 10 pointers from the two group into the same common pool, let them ballot concurrently at the same time ?

              OR

              b) for those 10 pointers who have placed Crescent Girls school as 1st choice, no need for them to ballot. Let them go in first,
              but
              ballot only group 2,
              that is,
ballot those 10 pointers who have picked Crescent Girls' schools as their 2nd choice, but not 1st choice ? That's why they said that your choice matter ?

You may want to re-read it again (and again):
                https://www.moe.gov.sg/secondary/s1-posting/how-posting-works

It's very clearly explained how the posting / balloting priority works. Your examples are well covered by the MOE microsite. Balloting will only take place when students vying for the last available places in the school have the same PSLE score, citizenship and order of school choices.

To surmise, scores>citizenship>selection choice for balloting. I am in the view that there is a logic that would check for eligibility for top choice schools before going down the choice rank list.

Yes, the environment just feels unusual and odd with the camp around. Crescent Girls environment feels comfortable, tuck in at one quiet corner.

OK. I am basing my experience from many years of Primary School volunteering when they practice class banding. You can quickly feel the difference between the front and last class in terms of attitude and discipline. I believe in impact and effect of peer influence. Could be different for Secondary School.

Let’s wait for another 10 days for the results. 🙂
