Hi all, my DD just got posted in RVHS for 2023
I don’t speak Chinese at all,
she moved to SG at P4 and her PSLE Chinese was AL3 (no HMT)
I wonder if we can survive here lol 😅
Do we need tutor/tuition in IP school?
What the hours like? Our house is 16km away now but plan to move closer later in 2024
Any tips and suggestion to share?
Really appreciate it 😇🙏 -

Congratulations! RV is a great school with great culture .. you’re in good hands. As first year is usually adapting and honeymoon year, do allow ur DD to explore freely and make new friends. If you like, add on tutoring later on, if required. For IP, it’s important for kids to learn to seek clarification and consult their Teachers with doubts and queries. All the best!!

Hello! I’m thinking of joining the Parent Support group… but, as a working mom, I may not be able to support events etc.
My friend also mentioned that the school has talks etc to engage the parents so joining may not be necessary.
What are your thoughts? -

Hi Slothie, there are actually many working parents in the PTA too. The best part of PTA other than the talks is also being able to connect with other RV parents. But of course, even if you're not a PTA member, some talks are still open to all RV parents (with a small fee).

My girl can be very quiet and shy, she’s from girl school, she’s a bit nervous now 😛 -

My DD has many primary school friends in RV, they are all warm and friendly and some are also quite quiet. Not to worry, I’m sure your DD will find her niche eventually. Meantime, be her most trusted supporter and listen to her daily tales of this new journey in sec sch.

Thank you for helping out with the questions!
The next phase seems so exciting! Any tips for the new S1 joining next year? -
I think time management is important as the child progresses to secondary. CCA commitment is heavy and he has more subjects to handle. I am still trying to make DS to be more systematic as the school gives out notes. He does not have the habit of doing filing regularly, so that frustrates me a lot. But his classmates are nice, whenever someone needs help with misplaced notes, they will send pictures over in their own WA groups. He is also in this phase where he hates to be micro-managed. I am learning to slowly let go for his growth.

Hello everyone
Is there any parent/kids who can share DSA leadership experience with RVHS?
We would like to know more what we need to prepare interview, personal statement and so on.
Also want to know chance of getting DSA leadership according to previous experience if the kid is holding Head prefect/Vice Head prefect position with AL6/7 but not Singaporean.
