Ohh that’s fast. Do you know what school they appealed to? Thanks
My friend’s child sent in appeal on 21/12.
Received phonecall on 22/12.
Appeared for interview on 23/12, and then accepted on the spot.
The child got posted to 1st choice and appealed to a school not in the list of 6.
Even though the school they appealed to is the dream school, the psle results was way off last year’s cop and so they gave it up in their actual list of 6. And then found out on posting day that they met dream school’s cop, so they sent in the appeal right away. -
Coming to the end of the line for the 2022 P6s. Not taking sides on the following; all of the factors/characteristics have been discussed before (and they exist elsewhere without complaints. I.e. O Level / JAE has step functions, balloting, etc). I guess some just see the test format and outcomes firsthand this year.
Best of luck to the newly minted S1s...

hello fellow parents.
i just wish to seek some views of an idea. Some parents told me not to waste my effort, some educators i spoke to said the ideas sound great if it can be pushed through. I have been advocating this idea for many years, small steps and i spoke to some officers from MOE recently about it , though have not heard back but i am still trying.
Personally, i feel PSLE not be used as a convenient tool to sort students into secondary schools, given that it has to be done during the short 1-2 weeks Dec holidays window period. that is the most efficient way for now. Students should not be subjected to balloting and education system should not be like that.
We have 136 secondary schools. Schools are already split into 7 clusters (North , south, East , West ) , Ave 5 (Range 4-6) secondary schools in each cluster. What if we group several secondary schools and house them under 1 roof ?
meaning
Ave new enrolment in each secondary : 300 per year
What if we group 5 Sec into a big school ?
No of students = 1500 per year
No of sec = 22 Mega Cluster Sec Schools
4 Years = 6000 students in a year @ 1 location.
There are many benefits, esp when it comes to availability of resources / facilities etc under 1 roof, more subject options for students, opportunities for teachers to progress, pedagogy research to bring our education system to next height.
Of course, we are not asking every secondary school to merge to form a mega cluster secondary schools due for various valid reasons. Logistic can always be worked out easily.
I wish to seek some views from more parents as every view helps to refine the idea in some ways.
Thank you -
This plan would require the construction of new giant campuses, since each cluster will be housed under one roof? I can’t imagine taxpayers would be happy to fork out the money for it.

It’s a good solution.

Once, you have identified a problem for it to solve, it will be perfect.
I can’t imagine the joy of the students / parents living in the east being posted to a hypothetical merged mega school of Bedok Green, Bedok South, Bedok View, Damai and Ping Yi (no offense to the students / parents of these schools), and the anguish of the students / parents in Bukit Timah being posted to a mega school of ACS, HCI, MGS, NYGH and SCGS because they would have preferred RI / RGS in Bishan.
While we are at it, may I propose the names of the schools to be Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. -

I’ve always suggested that we should rename half our schools Raffles and the other half Hwa Chong. Name change only, cheap cheap. Everybody happy since you have 50% chance of being posted to Raffles and 50% chance of being posted to Hwa Chong (well… everyone happy except those fanboys and fangirls of ACS, SJI, VS, RV, DHS, CGSS, SCGS etc. Sorry, the world isn’t big enough for so many people).
