Would like to seek info about the P5 primary science masterclass by NUSH 😁 Did your kids enjoy the classes? Also, was the majority of the work done in the class or do they have to do their project work outside of class? Asking as P5 seems quite busy plus there is also school based project work planned. Would you strongly recommend to do if offered the masterclass?

NUSH has a lot of dedicated math and Sci teachers. I’ve no doubt any masterclass conducted by them is top-notch. So why wouldn’t your kid enjoy it especially if he has deep curiosity about Sci?

If he were my kid, I’ll surely encourage him to go for the class; doesn’t matter how many other projects his sch will assign to him later on.

It’ll cost a bomb to send our kids privately to Sci enrichment classes and chances are, those will not be of the same calibre as masterclass which I believe is a collaboration between GEB and NUSH. This masterclass is freely offered to your kid bcoz he passed some selection tests and with due respect, he should grab it with both hands.

P/S My kid only did Math masterclass during his time and I assume Sci masterclass to be as beneficial.

For science masterclass, will need to travel to nush on one afternoon every week from April to around sep period. Lesson there is about 2-3 hrs if I recall correctly. Don’t think beyond this commitment there is much work to be done. If child gets selected for both science and math masterclass, can only choose to do one. That was the information based on a few years back.

I see I see, yes the traveling time is a consideration because NUSH is quite far for us. Glad to hear majority of the work is done in class. Does sound like it would be a great learning opportunity and kiddo is also very keen. Now just up to parents to work out the logistics.

Glad to hear your child benefited from the Math masterclass and great to hear of the passionate teachers in NUSH. Indeed sounds like a great learning opportunity. Likely will go for it since kiddo is very keen, just need to work out transport arrangements.

Hi parents, my boy is interested to apply NUSH DSA. So far he has no Gold medal, his achievement as below:

                  SASMO 2022 Silver
                  NMOS 2022 Silver
                  SPSO 2022 Bronze

Does he stands a chance to get in NUSH? Shall he applies for Maths or Science? His P5 final exam, Maths scored AL1 93 and Science AL2 88. But his languages didn’t do as well. Both AL 4 and AL3. Overall AL10.

My child was offered both Math & Science Masterclass in 2022. He attended both. No clash in timing.

Go for it! Nothing to lose. As long as the kid loves Science and/or Math, and can show it, he'll do well in the tests: written and then experiments camp.

My son is year 1 NUSH now, he was also NMOS Silver not Gold. He's also AL1 in Math & AL2 in Science (although his languages were surprisingly both AL1 in the end).

Your son's SPSO will help too, we didn't even know how to attend SPSO (not from MOE school).
