Um, you can order the intestines-less version. I think there's supposed to be oysters inside (can't recall).Augmum:
Jennifer, glad that u have found my info helpful.

I don't take innards but otherwise love mian xian. So I got the i-less one, slurped very bit of it. -
Dear Caroline3sg,
It depends on how much you want to be free and easy. But there is alot of planning that need to goes with it. Transport is one of the key. The train are pretty comprehensive, and from train station you can always take a taxi to your destination. I suggest you plan a base, either in Hsinchu or Taoyuan, and then plan your destination from your base. 4Days I will suggest to stay in one place and take day tour. Found this link below that might help you with your planning:

Back from Taiwan today.
Weather was good except it rained heavily while we were at Wu Fen Pu. According to the weather report, next week also rainy week.
Btw, Wu Fen Pu has a toilet located near 189 coffee shop (which is facing one main road). Do not believe the salespp there if they tell you the nearest toilet is next to the temple/in the park. Anyway, this toilet they mentioned is in B2 of the carpark.
Most of the night mkts sell the same type of food. After we visited two night mkts, we lost our appetite. My boy ate MacDonald for two nights.
The last two nights we stayed at Taipei Gdns. There is a Carrefour opposite this hotel, ate sushi (NT$30 per plate). Got a game arcade for young children too.
We tried the Iron Egg at Damshui. Only vaccumed packed ones, not the Ah Po Iron Egg. Dun really like it. Also ate a bowl of black soya bean curd with red beans. Like this. Now is summer, so only sell the cold version.
We did not visit Raohe Night Mkt as it was raining (same day as Wu Fen Pu as these two places are in the same vinicity). So the tour guide brou us to Salt City. It was an eye opener. There are also some activities suitable for children- pouring coloured salts into small glass bottles, motorised bike n track, kiddy train rides. We love the salted ice cream too. My boy n I first time rode kiddy motor bike, he enjoyed it very much when going around the track with me shouting slow down slow down.
Leofoo Theme Village also fun, but the popular rides hv very long q. We did not get to try out the water theme rides. The kiddy roller coaster was fun. I did not realise it could be scary. I could not find my voice to scream. At 2pm, the park has a performance at the water fountain area, dancing from the 3 themes.
I did not enjoy my visit to the Palace Museum, time was too short n my boy was uninterested. I think need to be on F&E without kids, then can see more things n in greater details.
I found the environment very much like M'sia- low rise shophses along the road, so-so maintained roadside. Taipei roads amazed me. It also seems most drivers do not drive at high speed like S'pore. Really must cross the roads carefully. When the green man is on, the cars still cross the road. Most pple auto stand on the slow lane on escalators (so unlike pple in S'pore). The general public are helpful too.
There is a shop we visited that sells the fengshui item PI XIU. Very pushy salespp. The other shop that sells LINGZHI, LURONG and Royal Jelly (@Sun Moon Lake) also pushy. Only the teashop was ok.
In the end, other than the PIXIU and LINGZHI/LURONG/Royal Jelly shops which I made payments via credit card, I spent less than NT$200 a day on food (except today's lunch NT$700 inside the hotel becos outside raining). Still can wear the pants I worn on 1st day  I brou NT$12000, came back with NT$2000. -
Just finished unpacking.
I bou Royal Jelly at Mao’s House @ Sun Moon Lake area. Though the salespp assured me the packaging will ensure no leakage, I must be one of those unlucky ones whose bottle leaked a little.
Overheard on the plane that someone (not our tour group) lost two handcarried bags. She only realised it when the group reached the airport.
Three persons in our group of 7 fell sick. Might hv caught a cold after the rainy day in Wu Fen Pu. Ended up visited the hospital next to Taipei Gdn Hotel for injections.
We took China Airlines, not too bad. Good service, just inflight food so-so. Many recent movies- Percy Jackson, Alice in Wonderland, How to train a dragon, etc. -
We were at Freshfields Resorts @ Wuri. Very spacious room with a personal spring water tub. Our room # is 123, faces the backyard of low forestation. The others hv rooms facing the carpark. Breakfast selection is international buffet. The plus point is there is a Kid’s recreation centre. The resort offers pickup service at the Wuri station.

S-H:
WTS has a few branches. I booked with Bt Panjang branch. The staff who called my hse to inform me to meet at T1 row x did not wear WTS uniform that day at the airport. She claimed that she told my #2 that she will wear a black t-shirt. Though my #2 told her to call again in the evening, she did not. We were so anxious at the airport. Luckily i saw a couple holding a WTS enevelop and approached them to check with them where is the WTS staff.Hi Jennifer,
How's your trip to Taiwan with WTS overall? I'm thinking of a holiday to Taiwan during December school holiday. I'm thinking of joinning the tour package n is still thinking of which travel agent to join?
Then the flight seats was not processed properly. The WTS staff claimed that the office has faxed the list of passengers to the airlines so that seats are be assigned accordingly. The flight was very full. Luckily still managed to sit with my #2.
Our group has only 7 pp - a family of 3, a couple plus us. We were not joined with other tours and had a tour guide n bus driver n a small bus. Paid NT$700 per pp for tip to tour guide n bus driver. The local tour agency is Polo Holidays.
On the departure day, our boarding passes were again not assigned properly. Though the group was assigned the same row, the seats were random. My #2 and I had 34A n 34F. Dun know whose error this is. Luckily still same row can easily switch with the others.
Overall I guess WTS is quite ok though others who hv joined other agencies said that WTS so-so.
This package that I joined is quite slow pace. Morning call 6.30am, check-out by 8am. Only on the day we were supposed to leave for Sun Moon Lake, need to depart at 7am. Usu. check in a hotel by 3pm. After that, we went to night mkts. Back into hotel before 8pm (the others continued on their own). Got plenty of time to watch TV and World Cup. I also managed to catch my KBS drama on Wed n Thurs
