You can do that. It’s your choice ultimately.
Hi, can I check if we are going to apply to DSA in 2023. Can we just present the accolades for 2022 and earlier as we intend to focus on PSLE this year and greatly minimise training and may be even no competitions. Thanks
However, you have to be aware that your standing is probably going to be lower than one who is able to produce the accolades for 2022 and earlier, AS WELL AS, accolades for 2023. Depending on the school you apply to, and the number of candidates / domain involved, there’s a risk of missing out of the cut. -
Can I ask those parents who have kids DSA with Chinese before. May I ask which schools did your kids get in and what the schools look for and lastly once you get in, what is expected of you? Thanks

Can i ask DSA for leadership, how does school typically evaluate the candidates other than holding the post of e.g. prefect?

Depends on which school you are applying for. Usually if selected, there will be an interview (or 2) before the school makes their decision.

If you are planning to DSA to top schools like HCI, RGS, etc.. usually for leadership, simply being a prefect might not be enough. Your child should ideally be the head or assistant head prefect in the school to get a chance for an interview with the school. Academic results is also believed to play a big part. Based on info in ksp gathered last year, no one who received a confirmed offer or waitlist offer from HCI had mid year/p5 results of more than AL10.
I'd asked the Principal of NYGH whether we can assume that if the child gets selected for the interview, it means she has passed the results screening criteria. The answer was no, they will allow all the students who passed the first level screening to go for the interview as the exposure/experience will be good for the child. Reviewing of results will happen after the interview during the selection round. -
May I know how many schools can my child apply to attend and enter the DSA rounds in schools? During my daughter’s time, 6 years back, they could attend and try as many schools as they want. Is there any limit to no of schools now? Thanks

Now maximum 3 applications per child. With the extra caveat maximum 2 talent areas for the same school.

From MOE:
“Indicate up to 3 choices and 3 talent areas. You may indicate up to 2 talent areas for the same school. If you want to apply for 2 talent areas at the same school, you must indicate both as separate choices.” -

Does this mean most parents are doing open house visits at P5? or earlier?

If apply 2 talent areas for the same school - I think I've heard some comment saying that the school may have concern that the child may not fully focus on 1 talent area hence it becomes a disadvantage. Not sure if it is true?
