      Hi,

My 15 year old girl seems to be constantly tired, especially these few weeks and seem to be getting worse, to the extent that when she sit down at her study table after school she will just put her head on the table and sleep. No doubt school hours has been longer this year and all along she hasn’t been a very focused person when doing work, I am getting increasingly concerned as I have read about thyroid problems in teenage girls causing extreme tiredness and inability to focus…
BRANDS' essence of chicken!!! It really helps! FUSS too! Fuss over her and show lots of TLC by making lots of good food for her. Try these first before going into the clinical diagnosis. Sometimes kids just need a LIFT UP, even adults!

It is actually quite common for secondary school kids to feel tired and doze off easily. Considering the amount of work they have and the little time they have to sleep.. if there isn’t significant changes, I wouldn’t be too worried. Perhaps it is exam stress, or she started playing a new game. Both are exhausting and time consuming.

If you have strong suspicion, can bring her for a simple blood test at the clinic. For the peace of mind.

I have 3 kids, with the first one I was so strict and always asking for results (not matter what he did), he is a good 21 old guy now but he is shy and insecure.

With my second daughter, (only one year younger ) I gradually changed to be more open to her perspective, she is a 20 years old girl who isn’t shy but she is difficult to handle (very smart but explosive).

With my 16 years old 3rd daughter, I become less strict, more understanding, a lot of communication, we decide what is right and what is wrong together (not implying that I know everything because I don’t) and is working pretty good, she is so smart, educated, respectful and committed to everything she does pursuing knowledge for the joy of knowing.

I feel it is good for students to go out for some temp jobs. It should be 'fun'. Whenever I see some fast food outlets with oily floor, the thoughts will be auto ..no, not letting the kids to work here 😓

Saw a student working as sales promoter selling mandarin oranges at Cold Storage recently..ah that's not bad.

My DS had been working in these oily floor F & B shops when he was in Polytechnic (because of relatively high pay) and therefore he can adapt to any tough working conditions now.

Mine was fascinated with watching the kitchen goings-on in bubble tea shops. He will compare the job advertisements’ stated hourly rate at various F&B outlets too.

I worked in kfc before but the condition was good de. You will be surprised at how oily at least 1 fast food outlet I encountered. My nephew worked in a chicken rice outlet before…due to his size, he worked in kitchen with hot oil. I feel worry then when I heard that.

My younger one wants to get a job this Nov-Dec…

I think first job doesn’t really matter if related to future aspirations or preferred subjects or not. Learn some discipline, sacrifices, how to suck it up, etc…

Do something that we will not have much chance to do next time…also can earn how difficult to earn the money, learn to communicate with customers and experience how is it working under people.
