What will be the gender mix in this new school?
what will be the expected cohort size? currently 240?
How many GEP classes can we expect in in 2033? currently 2?
Post 2030, will ACSP still take in new P4 GEP students at Barker Road?
Will enlarging the cohort size at ACSP lead to higher affiliation COP to ACS sec? -

I went to open up the petition link to read the comments. I can understand why some ACSP parents are unhappy because it’s just too sudden and a very drastic move at that.
Quite a handful of the ACSP parents and alumni are unhappy that they have to move out of ACSP current premises to have ACSJ move in to take over. Regarding this, actually a bit unfair to ACSP alumni. So ACSP alumni sons and grandsons forever need to go Tengah while ACSJ alumni sons and grandsons can go Bukit Timah/Newton area?
Another comment claims that the BOG chairman was from ACSJ. If that is the case, is there a conflict of interest to suggest ACSJ move in to Barker Road compound while ACSP moves to Tengah? -

Sudden? But all the kids in school today are not affected. That's 6 years. No matter when they do it, some group of students will be affected.

My 两角钱价值:
ACSP currently located in atas estate. So the affluent folks will have the advantage when enrolling child into it. And alumni will have the advantage in enrolment too - the opportunity stays in the family.
To expand fairness as much possible, is not to bring the opportunity to as many families as possible? Newton or Tengah, has more families?
We all know about the concept of diversifications. We have all heard the expression “ACS own Spore” thru businesses. It will benefits the ACS alumni bosses too if they can recruit ACS graduates in future that grew up in the heartlands and knows what the average folk need. May translate to more business success with better product that meet the needs of the masses. -

No..no... no such thing as \"ACS own Spore\", at least I don't find any special privileges enjoyed by my colleagues who came from ACS. Singapore is belong to all Singaporeans and not owned by people from any school.

Sudden as in to receive the news that ACSP will go co-ed and relocate to Tengah just 5mins before the press release. Many parents, students and teachers were shocked and left confused.

It’s like my hub told me a decade ago we might upgrade our house in the future then in 2023, suddenly informed me that our house has been sold and it’s done deal!! I think I will be extremely shocked too -

Hi
Are you referring to the current BOG or previous BOG ?
There could be more affluent families with connections in ACSJ than ACSP.
Eg: We have a minister’s youngest son who was previously from ACSJ too. He should be 17 years old this year. The eldest grandson should be 7-8 years old this year in XXXX. 🤐 -

Forum: Keep ACS (Primary) an all-boys school
One overriding mission of a Christian school such as Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) is to serve
communities. Hence, the move to Tengah appears to be the right and proper thing to do (ACS
(Primary) to move to Tengah, take in girls from 2030, Feb 10).
I am, however, against the decision to make this new school co-ed.
Many outstanding leaders of this country – both male and female – were schooled in singlegender schools. Many parents also prefer to have their children attend single-gender schools,
especially in primary school.
The decision should need to be backed by research on the superiority of co-ed schools over
single-gender schools in terms of pedagogical and educational outcomes.
Such information should also be made known to the public so that parents and communities can
make informed decisions on selecting the most appropriate schools for their young children.
ACS has a proud tradition and great record of running schools for boys at the primary and
secondary levels.
Its long and illustrious history and traditions are treasured by its alumni.
News of the change has been an emotive issue for many of them.
I ask that ACS be allowed to preserve its all-boys status.

Moving out of Barker is not going to level the playing field. It just makes it less convenient for some parents, less reason to brag about ACS Tengah, and allows privileged children to familiarize themselves with HDB estate.

In terms of enrollment, there will not be much of a difference because ACS alumni will still get to secure a place for ahead of others in P2C. What may change of course is that under 2C, we will see more applicants from 1km HDB neighborhood. But it will not be many because 1) Well to do family will buy or rent. 2) There will likely be only 40 places left for P2C balloting even with an enlarged cohort because Alumni daughters will secure a place ahead of 2C
