maybe don't use the word \"own\". But inside the PAP party,
definitely there are influential ACS old boys
If there are influential ACS old boys in our ruling party, that means they also support the shifting of ACSP to Tengah area. Am I right to say so?

Inside PAP (including controlling MOE and HDB), there are old boys (OBA), from both ACSJ + ACSP. Need to see,
who or which team talk the loudest or are more powerful (influential), emerge stronger, in terms of convincing the rest to accept the Tengal shifting verdict. This internal conflict, only the ACS old boys themselves, can resolve

We need to look at changes in a positive light. Our nation need to plan ahead & move on with our old sch models. It’s OK to hv more Singaporean “own Singapore” including female students for the future! 😉

          Conflicting Conversations (just for fun)

Young Parents : It’s such good news! ACSP moving to Tengah. We hv hope to put out kids in a known school. Let’s go ballot for a home in Tengah. New Town, new facilities. We don’t hv to pay for expensive housing or run around 2 diff schools for ah boy & ah girl.

ACS Old Boy : Haiz! We need to move or our kids hv long journey early morning. Stress! Wished I can put our kids to ACSJ but we can’t put Ah girl there. Stress! Run 2 locations. Maybe it’s a good idea to join other young parents in a fresh new town with new vibes. Reduce our stress running around sending our kids to sch early morning. More rests for us. That way can still keep OB privilege to both ah boy & ah girl.

MOE : This ACSP move will help more young couples move to Tengah & help quickly build a comprehensive new town vitality. Good thing BOG hv resources for SPED school to provide inclusivity. Let’s use this as test-bed for building inclusive sch models rather than independent special schools. Future edn will provide conducive environment for wholesome development for kids who will not be ostracized but will feel great to be part of good Edn.

MCS : Go with our blessings. Open your doors wide. Reach out to a new neighborhood & serve the people. Multiply with love, don’t keep the flame under the bed. Every child need to go for the “Best is Yet to Be”.

Notes : Sorry folks, that I did not include conversations of any politicians coz I can’t figure out how I shld position them (selfish lobbying or nonchalant attitude?) as their role shld be for the best devpt of our future. As we know, our parliamentarians are unlike the Taiwan or S. Koreans hair-pulling to edge their agenda fwd. What will happen if we hv even a tinge of that behaviour? I ask coz we hv Reps there fr RI, NYGH, RGS, ACS, SJI, Catholic High, VJC, NJC, Hwa Chong, Monk’s Hill, Maris Stella, Nan Chiau, Nan Hua .... ( hope we see the big pic?).

Sudden as in to receive the news that ACSP will go co-ed and relocate to Tengah just 5mins before the press release. Many parents, students and teachers were shocked and left confused.

It’s like my hub told me a decade ago we might upgrade our house in the future then in 2023, suddenly informed me that our house has been sold and it’s done deal!! I think I will be extremely shocked too
            Lee_yl,

one thing I don't understand is,
why can't they let ACSP & ACSJ remain where they are currently, that is,
just build or open another brand new ACS (Tengah), if they really insist on giving all kinds of various reasons (excuses) like ....
            open up to more diversity,
don't want to be a closed up school, bla bla bla ...
But, why \"die die\" must force ACSP to shift ?

Just follow the CHIJ schools identical format lah !
We have CHIJ (Kellock, Katong, Toa Payoh, Nativity, St Nick, OLGC) primary, so many !

            So, why can't we have

            ACS ( Primary, Junior, Tengah ) ?

I copy my post from another thread as below - on the shifting of a school for your reference, please.

\"What is the aim for setting up a school? 办学的目的是什么?孔子说 :有教无类 Teaching Without Distinction.

What are the issues of shifting a primary school to a new campus and becoming a co--ed school? Some claimed the move will 'destroy the culture and ethos\" of the school. Then what is the \"culture and the ethos\" of the school? To provide education for boys from the rich who stay around the present campus? In my parents day, most girls didn't have much chance to receive education, do we mean this culture have to be preserved?

Things are very clear. 公道自在人心. I don't understand why need to have so many discussions on the shift of a school. Is it because some alumni or the rich are unhappy as their kids have to take longer travelling time to the new campus? But the school is not a private school which only serves the interest of this group of people. What is wrong for a school to have a new campus and increase its cohort size so that more kids can be enrolled in the school.\"

It is a good change, on many fronts. And I am biased because I was one of the “lucky draw” beneficiaries. Now the lucky draw is open to a wider range of income types (even if the number of lucky draw tickets has not increased). I wish the generous heart will prevail over the dissenting voices.

Forum: Keep ACS (Primary) an all-boys school

One overriding mission of a Christian school such as Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) is to serve
communities. Hence, the move to Tengah appears to be the right and proper thing to do (ACS
(Primary) to move to Tengah, take in girls from 2030, Feb 10).
I am, however, against the decision to make this new school co-ed.
Many outstanding leaders of this country – both male and female – were schooled in singlegender schools. Many parents also prefer to have their children attend single-gender schools,
                  especially in primary school.
The decision should need to be backed by research on the superiority of co-ed schools over
single-gender schools in terms of pedagogical and educational outcomes.
Such information should also be made known to the public so that parents and communities can
make informed decisions on selecting the most appropriate schools for their young children.
ACS has a proud tradition and great record of running schools for boys at the primary and
                  secondary levels.
Its long and illustrious history and traditions are treasured by its alumni.
News of the change has been an emotive issue for many of them.
I ask that ACS be allowed to preserve its all-boys status.
                  Ng Hsueh Mei
                  Hendon,

Thanks, for putting up this Straits Times petition.

                  1) part of the reason why this petition arise, to remain status as \"All boys\" school, is because
                  for so many past decades,

whenever we think of the name \"ACS\", straight away, immediately, we think / associate with boys. So, is very hard to dissociate from this mentality. The same, goes for Catholic High, another \"All boys\" school.

                  Also, another reason is,
when come to prepare PSLE, parents do not want the presence of girls to distract their P6 sons, from preparing their PSLE well.

                  2) however, another reason I think of, which is the contrasting opposite, although I could be wrong is that, u know ...

pink dot is on the rise, intense.
So, that's why they have to start putting in girls into Tengah premises, ....

IMO, for primary schools, it is OK to be co-ed. But for Secondary schools, better to be separated as single gender schools, esp. at puberty age where hormones changed, race like crazy

which is the other GEP school MOE going to touch,

So there’s ACSP. ACSPT. ACSJ. ACSJBR.

                        ACSJPTBR next?
