Hi, since forummer Smartiepants55 brought up the post...
Just curious, what are schools doing for P6 Assessment this year now that \"SA1\" (or mid-year) has been eliminated?
One of my kid's school seems to be going with just non-weighted FAs in Term 1 and Term 2. I.e. no WAs or CAs that will make up a \"grade/mark\" in the report book for T1, T2, and Semester 1.
...
Our P6s have non weighted assessments in Terms 1 and 2 as well, much like back in P5.
Well this is my youngest right, so naturally we formulate our own revision plans, & have long begun preparing for the August oral exams
as well as the paper 1s evidently. Our school chinese writings are still pretty much leisure enrichment like write-ups of local/ traditional dishes; same as english writings which centre around expository topics. These are fine by us, cos my kid has gotten used to such assignments & works efficiently
Then of course, we have been using actual past year psle exam questions to practise the bits & pieces, trying out mini time trials. The idea is to familiarise the child with exam conditions, so that she feels comfortable in her own way (for instance, understanding her writing speed, not panicking when an unforseen circumstance occurs)
In fact, she has reflected on her routines, & we actually have more leisurely time this year!!

Oh my..suddenly I feel my heart beating faster :faint: still as usual no revision just helping her with Maths hw on and off. But I do notice this year's Math hw getting 'very' difficult..dd is like only know 50%. I do hope the cher is stretching them.
I haven't ask her read her Science since P5! I just do Math with her. I m totally hands off on her lang don't know what they doing since she has tuition on these. I really need to wake up wake up! -

Wow could you share how do you prep for p1 and orals? How do you use the psle questions to time/trial when it’s only February, since the school probably hasn’t finished teaching..

Hi and thanks for the info. Seems like the above is the standard issue now [Edit: other kid's school has WA1 worth 15% and WA2 worth 15%, this seems to be uncommon from what I've seen]. With a well thought out plan, which you guys have, I'm sure your youngest will do well! :rahrah: :rahrah:

I'm not sure about you but for me the second (or third, fourth, etc) time through always seems a lot easier. Not that it is any easier with regards to the actual work, but you know what is reasonable, realise there will be some bumps (don't need to be perfect all the way through), and accept that one has done what is possible to give the child a chance to do his/her best. The actual outcome is still subject to some luck (or absence of bad luck), but it wasn't for a lack of preparation or effort.
I guess it is the same for the new S1 this year. I kind of know what's coming and think it should be OK, so just watch and observe. For the S3, at times this feels like a bad movie sequel where you watch the child fumble around, driving straight towards the side of a cliff, think about the crash, etc :yikes: :yikes: . Probably need to remind myself if just close your eyes for eight more months it will likely be OK...
Anyways, best of luck and look forward to Oct! -

Hi my friend,
.........
u already expressed outright, blatant coveted MOTIVES, without blinking your eyelid. Whether > 2 km or not, not impt. Who knows whether u are speaking the truth or not ? Maybe your Tengah house Is less than 2 km, or less than 1 km, but u can come here and say more than 2 km, who can verify what u are saying, correct or not ?
..........
I am staying in Boon Lay Drive somewhere near the River Valley High School. I welcome you to come to my home for hotpot dinner and mahjong playing whenever you are free.
