No, cannot confirm that NYJC is in low 80s

      because

nothing about NYJC, was put inside reddit

      https://www.reddit.com/r/SGExams/comments/114cua9/alevel_results_by_junior_college/

      =====================

Why the school’s A levels results must go through Reddit and not through a proper channel, that is the school’s official website? How to trust Reddit?

Becase school like NJYC dont announce what is their mean amd median

Maybe they need to depend on unsubstantiated sources like Reddit to give an impression they did well or in the low 80s

86 as Median, not Mean as shared by reddit.
Other JCs could have rounded their Median rp as well.
              Eg Ejc has 4/10 got 3H2 A, Vjc 5/10 got 3 H2 A.
But both jcs Median are 85. So who rounded the Median.
Median by definition is the rank point of the 50th percentile student. It is not a calculated number so should be exact. Just saying.

Your examples of percentages of 3H2 distinctions of other JCs are off point.

Who knows? Maybe the figure 86 was posted on Reddit by our Yuppidiyupp? 😂

Or maybe just pluck a number that fits nicely between RI/HCI and EJC/VJC. So every year, they will declare themselves as number 3. I think the anonymous person who posted on Reddit dared not use a figure that challenges RI and HCI

It is a serious indictment of all the JCs. All of them.

Why all the pretentious reporting of performance? Why report in this manner, Six out of 10 attained 3 H2 Distinctions and above. Four out of 10 scored 4 H2 distinctions and above. Three out of 10 had a perfect UAS of 90.

Why not just say, number of candidates is 1,000, and 609 attained 3H2 distinctions, and 401 attained 4H2 distinctions, and 299 attained a perfect UAS of 90?

Why do all of them, without exception, talk so vaguely?

As institutions of education for our young, why do they need to fudge until like this?

Isn't it time for MOE to put down its foot on such unsavory practice?
Common/legit practice. On news we often hear statistics reported this way. It is easier for layperson and also when just high level ideas are needed to be communicated. saying 6 out of 10 person, better meet such objectives than saying out of 1000 person 609. Not Reporting lots of details may just be exactly the schools intents. They are not oblige to report in details I suppose.

The exact details are only important to people who are statisticians, or in this case, parents who want to rank schools. Knowing that A school does well is good enough. The exact xxx students scoring 4 H2 distinctions is not that important.

It's not as if we do not know the pattern of nyjc. I wouldnt give a damn how nyjc perform because If nyjc really did well they would have publicize it all over the place. IMO the only sausage we can accept is from the school official website/facebook/instagram.

                        Eg

                        EJC https://eunoiajc.moe.edu.sg/2022-results/
                        RI https://www.ri.edu.sg/highlights/story/gce-a-level-results-release-class-of-2022-a-spirit-of-excellence-a-heart-for-the-community

The rest like VJC , TJC published on their official facebook/instagram. Even poor NJC also published their results on their website. nyjc? Want to be a top school but yet doesn't behave like one.

So the conclusion is, we can ignore this school.
