The exact details are only important to people who are statisticians, or in this case, parents who want to rank schools. Knowing that A school does well is good enough. The exact xxx students scoring 4 H2 distinctions is not that important.
Don't you like to rank or classify primary schools?

I group them by government-aided, government and popular, not so popular schools... which helps in understanding your chances within particular phases during P1 registration.
But ranking them? There is really no point in doing so.

It's not really ranking in the sense of 1, 2, 3, I should have been more specific. More classification or label and I mean beyond gov't aided and gov't, as those are MOE terms. The implied superiority vs. the others that is pounded on non-stop.

Anyways, the word \"ranking\" is in this one?

Who knows? Maybe the figure 86 was posted on Reddit by our Yuppidiyupp? 😂

Or maybe just pluck a number that fits nicely between RI/HCI and EJC/VJC. So every year, they will declare themselves as number 3. I think the anonymous person who posted on Reddit dared not use a figure that challenges RI and HCI
Do not understand the mentality of NYJC. Aspire to be a top jc yet not transparent enough to reveal mean/median as all top JCs do

If the results are superb, why not share the good news? Or is the rumours in reddit true - low 80s?

Here are some compiled 2022 A level results (born 2004), ranking by JC.
True or not, just take it with a pinch of salt ?

              https://www.reddit.com/r/SGExams/comments/11551sg/a_level_results_2023_compilation/
The comments are quite funny. One student said he chatted with the NYJC P who told him the median score is 85-86. Oh Really? 😂 So what is it exactly? 85 or 86?

Obviously the P was trying not to publicize NYJC results or else she could have just announced in the hall on results collection day. Then how is it that the P could disclose the data so easily during a normal chit chat with students?

A random thought, if NJC doesn’t officially post her results, everyone would still have an impression that it is one of the few top JCs.

I don’t think NYJC has declared before they aim to be top JC? They have been doing what they deem fit these years. and students keep choosing it ahead of other JCs out of their own will and that push down the NYJC COP.

Then whats this secrecy in revealing mean/median if they have succeeded in making their students excel?

Has NYJC declared their 2022 A level result is excellent? I think every school would declare they would want to help their students to excel on their website or in their speeches. It is still possible their 2022 A level results are not good despite good intention. Call up to ask them if you really want to know the truth. If their non publishing of A level results imply some negativities to anyone, Then don’t enroll into it or transfer out lor. If it’s just for discussion sake, I have no further comment.

However, as a responsible educational institution that have one of the lower cutoff point, should they not be transparent to give minimally the mean and median so that aspiring students can make a informed judgement whther to enroll in the school ?
