However, need to consider that 330 would have to be spilt between boys / girls.

      Assuming a 50% spilt, that's a net lost of 75 places for boys (330/2 - 240 = -75) compared to the current situation.
ACSP in Barker will still be taking in students after 2030 under phase 1.

I don’t think the article suggests that. How did you come to that conclusion? If anything, it goes to show that the demand for affiliation is stronger than ever.

Besides, MOE won’t abolish affiliation… unless someone in MOE doesn’t like the Education Minister or the Education Minister thinks he / she wants to retire from politics already, and political suicide is a great idea.

No need to politicize this topic, but I do agree affiliation will not be abolished unless Govt-aided schools are no more. Govt alr control %tage for affiliation admissions. If next step is abolishing affiliation, then they’ve got to take more steps to meet all mission schools & clans to abolish. In fact, the article signals that ACSP(T) will tie in with other schools to enable affiliation after PSLE.

Which part of the article led you to that conclusion? :?[/quote]
Inside the article mentioned that part about ...

                \"
The boys were busy raising funds for the school. Suddenly tell them they not affliated ... \"

                =========================

IMO, I doubt they remove affliation. Instead, I am thinking more the other way round, might happen.

                No doubt MOE said that
ACSP (Tengah) P6 girls no affliation to MGS Girls' Secondary (Bukit Timah, Blackmore Drive).

But, this is only for 2030 P1 intake, the maiden flight initial take off part.
As time passes by, as the years go by, into one decade after 2030 take off, or into second decade, who knows, this may change. Why ?

                Because

                1) change is the only constant.

                2) don't the ACS (Tengah) girls \" covet \" the Affliation status to MGS (Secondary), O level track ?
                You never know.
Things can always change, because nothing stay the same forever !

                Why \"covet\", can arise ?

                Because

                ACSP (Tengah) girls can argue
                \"Not fair ! \".
How come, only MGS primary girls can enjoy affliation, while we cannot ? After all, aren't we (ACSP + MGS) girls, all belong to the same ACS family ? We are one family, isn't it ?

2030 P1 : the ACSP Tengah girls being only Primary 1, they will be \"guai guai\".

But 6 years later, come 2035, at P6 now, no longer at P1 anymore, who knows, these ACSP Tengah girls may also cry out aloud, \"We also want affliation, into MGS Secondary ! \"

The current Barker Road site is downright dilapidated and disheveled. The swimming pool tiles etc are filthy and the changing rooms + toilets are uncleaned weekly. I really can’t see why (other than sentimental reasons) the alumni wouldn’t prefer a spanking new campus over this ancient one.

Can u imagine, is not just affecting ACSP or ACSJ these 2 primary schools alone.

If MOE really were to abolish affliation, imagine so many other primary schools like the CHIJ family, other Catholic schools, SCGS primary also affected. Is a major over haul, impact so many people lives. No joke. Definitely, many parents with kids in affliated schools, will stand up to oppose, if MOE is thinking of remove affliation

                      Based on above article,
I forsee that those ACSP parents who have bought landed property / condo in the city area, will petition that

                      come 2030,
let their ACSP K2 6 year old son be enrolled into ACS Junior primary school too,
even though they are Phase 2 Alumni from ACSP,
                      not alumni from ACS Junior.

In the past, for several decade(s) this type of request (petition) never arise.
But because of Tengah so far now, some ACSP parents might appeal, for this.

Something that comes with a backlash doesn't mean that the idea is inherently a bad policy for the citizen.

Having affiliation is a benefit - to say 50% of the population.
(why not look at the other 50% who are not entitled to any affiliation? we want fairness and meritocracy, don't' we?
