I still don’t quite understand. Why can’t the implementation be done immediately? I’m very much doubtful that the change will have an adverse impact.

Because the current JC1 kids have already chosen their subject combis and also possibly started on their PW?

Also, for the JC1s, those who chose the IB, some chose it over the current A levels lol!!!

Those who are repeating a year in JC will have the rules changed for them in mid-stream. If it's changed immediately, there will be an outcry that it was without giving notice. And the JCs and markers need time to rethink how they do things too.

My kid also not in JC yet but it looks like a big step in reducing stress. Especially for the non-academically top kids and those from non-top JCs. Like trying to shift the competition away from just academics alone.

shifting the competition from academics alone, can be even more stressful and competitive for some.

Given the many 70 pointers that we are envisaging, I cannot imagine the credentialism arms race that is about to begin!

What do you mean by 'non-academically top kids'?

I can see your pt..... Its the same logic like the change in PSLE scores...... suddenly there will be a bigger pool with the same scores. On the non-academic part, somehow kids with parents that have more resources will have advantage as well.
