Theatre Studies and Drama is offered only as an H2 subject. I think only a few selected JCs offer it (ACJC, TMJC, VJC).
I can imaging myself going to VCJ then. I like East Coast better. Doesn’t matter H2 or H1. It’s will not be counted in Uni admission anyway. I can start appreciating the exhilarating effect the new system can bring :rahrah: . Maybe it’s just me

Is computing also considered a cold subject? (meaning not many pple will take). Or times have changed?
Computing is an extremely popular subject, especially from the boys, although there are some girls also doing Computing.

Theatre study (A-level) is a H2 subject, not H1. Offered only in certain JCs, not in all JCs.

Can run through the entire lists of H1 when u are free, see where your passion truly lies in,

        ie. Learn something,
not related to academics, more towards hobby

If your child is considering acting in Mediacorp TV channel 5 or 8, can consider \"Theatre study\" in Victoria JC, if u staying in the east,

just like in SOTA, they have this \"Filming or Drama\" course

For discussion sake, if I have no background at all in theatre studies during secondary school, can I still opt for H2 Theatre studies in JC, with the intention this subject is going to be my for fun subject?

RI only started offering Computing recently (not sure if it was offered many years back). RI Class of 2023 (i.e., JC2 this year) will be the first batch taking Computing A-level exam end of the year.

HCI has been offering Computing for years (Class of 2022 achieved 6 out of 10 Distinctions). Other JCs (NJC, VJC) also offer Computing.

Do note that some JCs may impose restricted Subject Combinations if one opts to take Computing. As each JC's list of Subject Combinations is different, it is better to check with the school directly.

I believe you are right that not many A-level students take Computing. BCME or PCME is usually the most popular combination in most JCs.

              All the best.

Haha, provided the student is sure the other 3 H2s are his/her strongest subjects 😄

You may contact Victoria directly, check if any pre-requistes are required.

However, before u start encouraging your child to take up Theatre studies, first find out

How many hours of curriculum including outside teaching drama acting hours are required ? Because this (theatre studues) is very demanding. What u possibly imagine to be \"fun, fun & very enjoyable\" may turn out to be very time consuming, at the expense of your core important 3 other H2 subjects. Before u start leap onto the performance stage, check out the number of hours involved, how heavy is the commitment level required in this course, first.

Seems that it is part of DEP/TSD Programme. I guess there may be selection tests/interviews before one is selected?

I see.... Thanks a lot. True also lah, End of day, pple will still aim the popular combis to maximize the available options in uni, even thou they may not like it.

To add: during yesterday’s interview the edu minister said policy change is the easy part. The hard part is the mindset change.
