Hello! Would like to ask about leadership DSA into Junior College. My girl is considering DSA, but we are unsure if she can be shortlisted and there is not much information on the leadership aspect. She holds a leadership position, but not student council/ prefect. Will Jcs still consider? If she is in exco for the other leadership group, is there a chance?

Also is there any information on leadership dsa? Are there any other things to add into the portfolio. Thanks! :imcool:
There isn’t a lot of info about the leadership aspect because JC are generally not short of leadership candidates. For the IP JCs and popular JCs, they already have their regular feed. You can try, but best not to put in too much hope. It’s better to depend on the O Level results and -4 points bonus.

Which are the JCs stronger in girls’ hockey and can someone share their experience in hockey DSA? Thanks![/quote]
For both boys and girls, generally RJ and VJ (although EJC was a finalist in A Div girls last year comp and ACJC girls has been consistently very good as well).

DSA sports from secondary to JC relatively straightforward since there are fewer, likely none, unknown entities. The seniors and coaches will likely point the way.

She needs to check each JC’s website to see if they even have Leadership DSA domain. Just for example, I checked RIJC and A-SRJC, they both do NOT have Leadership DSA.

          This one has, with details:

you looking for DSA (hockey) ?

can try applying for DSA (RI), if your child is keen. RI has Sports domain \"hockey\".

            Alternately,

can also ask your Sec 4 child
            to google
those Junior College(s) DSA website, that he or she is interested in and apply.

First, ask your Sec 4 daughter, which Junior College(s) is she targeting at ? Is it
RI / Hwa Chong / Eunoia / Victoria JC / National JC / ACSI (IB), etc ?

              Then,
goggle for that respective JC website which she is interested in, and apply. Usually, most JCs do have \"Leadership\" domain.

              Just make sure that
she don't miss the DSA dateline set. All the very best, to your daughter !

Thanks for the information! Sounds like ACJC, or maybe EJC would be great choices. Mid-tied schools suits her learning style better..

Questions: Will there be any academic requirements on top of outstanding hockey standards? Does the player position matters? Does the club she plays for matter? Is it hard to cope academically?

Oh yes, she is probably more informed than I am.. and takes instruction from seniors and coaches as well. Would like to source for more view points.

For A division hockey girls, I think it was EJC vs VJC in the finals for the past 3 NSG (2022, 2019, 2018).
EJC won in 2022 and 2019.
                  VJC won in 2018.

And I agree that if you are already competing in the B division, you should know better which are the stronger schools and which are the ones you want to join.

Thanks for the update on EJC. I haven’t been following hockey for a while, though I do frequent Anchorvale Sports Complex and see a number of teams training there.

I guess EJC doing well for hockey girls shouldn’t be a surprised considering that both SNGS and SCGS are among the stronger teams in C and B Div competitions.

Of course there will be academic requirements. They will look at your Sec 3 and Sec 4 report card, your overall L1R5
