To be honest I dont think Avenue3 knows what he or she is talking about and just making things up as he goes along.

If talking about P1 to S4, TT which we are already been discussing, then what exactly is

S1-S6, take O-level and A level in the same school, balloting for S1 enrollment using P5 school exam etc.
or be fair, if IP take PSLE and A-level, S1-S6 student need to take both O-level and A-level

when people like to put the cart before the horse, they will always have to make things up, reinvent the wheel and then forget what was said before realizing that incoherent and inconsistent thought process.

Others understand. You don't.... that's life. Not everything that is said will be understood by everyone. So we move on.....

I am no advocating completely scrapping. I am advising for about 500 students where parents know for sure their kids are late bloomers and want their kids to take a different set of exams.
The current G1,2,3 subject levels able to meet this requirement of different set of exams?

But that AL score will always appear in records. And some may loose self confidence.

              I get the concept now.

Whether top 80% or whatever to remain for A level is only a matter of detail.

Dunno what was so difficult to understand. 🤷
how is S1 to S6, take O and A level in the same school related to P1 and S4 through train..

I am really keen to know how you decode the Ave3 message.

              Care to share?

If the child not suited to main stream curriculum, it may continue to be a drag to them from 13 thru 18. yo as long as it is not fixed. They may switch off and lost interest in study altogether. This can have even worse consequences. Our current system already have many avenues to identify strength of each students, to boost confidence, in FSBB, DSA, specialised schools). We and our child can then focus to do our part, to focus on learning to our child best abilities and don’t compare with others.

It caters yes, but still that branding of big number AL score remains. Our mindsets won't change coz some job applications also have PSLE score column. Unless another section \"PSLE exempted\" is available, our mindsets won't change..... just my views.

[Quote]In the end we may have different students
                      1. Skipped PSLE and wrote O level
                      2. Skipped O level and wrote A level via IP.
Not saying I agree or disagree. Personally I am more inclined towards early intervention and more frequent intervention when problems are detected.

What needs to change is the stigma and label attached by society. That's largely our fault.

                        My view:

If I am a boss doing hiring , if 2 candidates both have the same degree (assuming it is degree related job), and A’s PSLE result was not good and B’s PSLE result was better, everything else being equal, I would favour A for the job, because A demonstrated can “bounced back from failure” which to me is a virtue.
