Go for it! Nothing to lose. As long as the kid loves Science and/or Math, and can show it, he'll do well in the tests: written and then experiments camp.

My son is year 1 NUSH now, he was also NMOS Silver not Gold. He's also AL1 in Math & AL2 in Science (although his languages were surprisingly both AL1 in the end).

Your son's SPSO will help too, we didn't even know how to attend SPSO (not from MOE school).

Hi parents, my boy is interested to apply NUSH DSA. So far he has no Gold medal, his achievement as below:

      SASMO 2022 Silver
      NMOS 2022 Silver
      SPSO 2022 Bronze

Does he stands a chance to get in NUSH? Shall he applies for Maths or Science? His P5 final exam, Maths scored AL1 93 and Science AL2 88. But his languages didn’t do as well. Both AL 4 and AL3. Overall AL10.

Thanks Zeal and ainunajib for replying!

@ainunajib, yes he will give a try. SPSO is org by NUSH and students need to register via their school. Last year, it was the first time opened to all P5 students. Hence, some said is more competitive but at the same time, more opportunities given to the P5 too, which I am happy with. My boy likes Maths n Science. Researcher or Scientist, is what he wants to be. I pray! 🙏

My child got offered to take one module (MA1131) with NUS high this year. Any parents here with experiences? Is there any textbook to buy and what’s the usual passing rate for the class to get officially admitted into NUS high?

Not a parent but graduated from NUS High in recent years. Unfortunately I can't comment on the passing rate since I don't have the numbers. But generally if they get offered to take the module early, I believe you don't need to be too worried as they would likely find it quite manageable--it's just what the Year 1 NUS High students will be taking in Semester 1. No textbooks are required; the school will likely provide you with the full set of notes which are very comprehensive in covering everything your child will need to know haha

I doubt it is that simple as being an olympiad winner or which type of olympiad winner anymore. Those who are already got into the masterclass or Einstein clubs are confirmed offered but others, there must be some qualities the school is looking for that may include passion, interests, capability and many others. And nobody knows except the school. Very difficult to gauge and speculate nowadays reading all the different feedback from parents this year... Some winners get interview, some dont even get shortlisted for selection tests..

best is to keep working hard for that dream. 🙂 :rahrah:
Any idea when Masterclass & Einstein Club kids will be informed about CO?
Or they just have to go through the same process but it's a guaranteed CO?

I have heard that selected P6 pupils are invited to do robotics module apart from Math module. Has anybody received the invite to join Robotics module yet? Not sure what is the criteria for Robotics module.

Didn't hear about the robotics module, but we've replied for the math module.

Only IMSO members get the CO, sometime in July.

If your child was NMOS Gold medalist / SPSO Gold medalist, Math & Science masterclass participants. The invitation was sent out in end March for Math module, early April for Robotic module in my child's year.

School will provide tutorial notes and worksheet. The child will sit for the test in mid-end July. The result will release in end July. Regardless of your result, admission into the school is entirely through the written & camp selection. The CO is only given to IMSO members in advance.
