Living in Singapore

My family higher on greens & fruits. Usual meat diet is chicken or fish. Hardly red meat tho we do not restrict ourselves to red meat when eating out. We oftentimes take less portions of meat, leaving the youngsters more for their protein needs. As we get older, less meat is kinder to our battles digestive system.

Am sceptical when things are free. Ok covid vac is free.
Another clinic said $32 before GST.
CGH said w/o prescription from a doc, it will be private patient's rate at $30. -

Singapore does not allow for assisted suicide for the old and sick. Dare we review this?
When Sg has become super-aged, we will not be the ones deciding, as we will be the aged population. So perhaps we should voluntarily make it easier on our kids - refuse medical solutions that prolong a life of poor health (as opposed to a life of good health) and get out of their hair?
Asking PRs to return to their homelands might mean they will experience poorer healthcare, and may also mean that they leave their children and grandchildren behind in Singapore. Many will have lived in Singapore for much of their working lives, and perhaps built up the healthcare system. That may be a \"good\" solution, but not very kind.
Definitely not easy to draw the line when to stop treatment or even pull the plug. What if aged parents rather die than go for kidney dialysis? We should respect their decision or persuade them to persevere on?
I think there’s a misconception here.
No longer a PR does not mean forever cannot step into Singapore to visit their children/grandchildren.
Alternatively, maybe govt can get all the PRs to be insured under private medical plan so that PRs have no incentive to go public hospitals / polyclinics. The wait for a hospital bed can be up to 4 days! So spread the load! -

There are GPs who join the MOH as neigbourhood GP partners. These GPs hv access to the same medication & pricing for PolyClinics & public hospital pharmacies. They also hv access to hospital database to do followup treatments, so patients don’t hv to crowd at hospitals. Think this is the model they’re moving towards eventually when everyone will hv a dedicated GP & healthcare followup?
Ok, am relieved.

My late FIL will do all his investigative tests mostly at SGH, but our family GP will continue to monitor his condition & adv his medication. He doesn’t hv to crowd at SGH’s pharmacies & wait for long treatment times, except when he had to be admitted. At our family GP, we usually make an appointment & he goes almost straight into consultation after last patient with GP. All Senior benefits & Medisave deductions are possible at our family GP, incl govt subsidies. I think it’s so neat. -

It's a fine line between refusing treatment and actively causing death. These can be grey areas, and each person will have to decide where the line is. As a nearly-aged person, I would hope my children will allow me to make my own decisions. I find it quite cruel to persuade an elderly person to go for treatments that cause more pain with little chance of improvement, just to live a few more days/weeks/months. Of course, that is because my religious beliefs are that life in the beyond is much better than here on earth.

The govt will save more money by handing out these free vaccinations to the elderly, rather than have them fall sick and many end up in hospitals. The non-elderly still have to pay, even in the clinics which give free vaccinations to the elderly.
