\"Unfortunately, we are now in a world where rules are shaped not by logic or principles, but by geopolitics and security imperatives.\" ~ DPM Lawrence Wong.

Unfortunately, many highly educated Singaporeans are still dreaming about \"rules based order\".

Actually, is this even new? :scratchhead:

Educated or not, only reason coz we’re too secure in SG & everything works by law & everything goes systematically ‘well’. We are “conditioned”. Now we’ve got to adjust our thinking & feelings according to the weather changes.

In volume 2 of his book Standing Tall - the Goh Cheok Tong years, GCT said something along the line about the importance of having a strong defence force, so that we can stare right into the eyes of troublemakers and say we are ready to take you on if need to.

Nice guy with mostly nice words, that believes in rule and regulation, does not mean naive and weak.

I believe there are many Singaporean with GCT’s brand of pragmatism. It’s not something that need to be displayed regularly.

I’m a firm believer of the “rules based order”. Otherwise, there will be chaos in everything we do.

As such, all rules should be based on what I say, you follow. If the rules don’t suit me, I’ll change, and you follow. If you don’t follow the rules I set, you are obviously a troublemaker and must be destroyed / annihilated / replaced (up to my discretion).

                        It’s an authoritarian regime propaganda.

I should also add, please do what I say, but don’t do what I do, because I’ve created a special rule which exempt me (and no one else) from following the rules I set.
