All About Montessori

sunny:
Heyya sunny,
'cos the teachers teach the students according to the ability of the kids which i find it good as my kids might not be able to learn as fast as other kids or, they would be able to learn faster. then, the teachers can guide the kids along the way and help them to progress.buds:
Nice to meet you too!
Any particular reason
you're looking for
Montessori schools &
not the usual mainstream
centres?
not sure if i interpret their method of teaching correctly.
you have any experience dealing with montessori schools?
I've PM-ed you!

Hi buds! Thanks for your insightful post on Montessori teaching. I’m also agonising over which school to send my 2.5 year old boy to. This will be his first time in school. He’s really suaku, hadn’t even attended any playgroup or enrichment class before.
Considering Montessori vs Mainstream for him. He’s very shy, introverted, quiet, but very itchy finger and on the move once he’s warmed up. Not sure what style would be suitable for him.
Am looking at Montessori For Children (Mountbatten) which I heard conducts very "pure" Montessori classes. The mainstream school I am considering is Schoolhouse By the Bay. Both are near my place.
Any comments, buds? Much appreciated!
Also, does a pure montessori environment prepare one well enough for the local Primary One? The reason I ask is because some of my friends put their kids in Montessori when they were very young and then switch them to mainstream in K1. Any comments on this, anyone? -

same here! I made an online enquiry and no reply yet. Where is their centre by the way? Do you know where it is near to?dozalot:
Any follow ups on the Sengkang MMI? I am keen on the enrichment playgroup.
Hi dozalot
I'm also keen on sending my son to Sengkang MMI, but more for their half day care playgroup programme.
I called them some time back & they say that I can just come on any weekday (no appointments needed) for a tour of the place, so I was pretty impressed by their confidence of not having to so-call 'prepare' for it.
They only said I'll need to make an appoinment if it's on a Sat.
However, recently, when I wrote an e-mail to enquire more, I didn't get any replies & have yet to receive it.
Tried calling them also, and no one picked up my call.
What made me feel worried was reading all the bad feedback too. -

Iam so glad to see this thread since Iam in the middle of chosing a montessori school for my son who is in K1.
Hi Mikii,
Which school do your children attend? Can you please let me know.
I stay in the west and none of the good school like LittleOaks Montessori, Little Wonders Montessori and Montessori For Children provide transport.
I saw CS-Montessori at Bukit timah plaza and planning to enroll him there. Did anyone hear about Innate Montessori at Jalan Jurong kechil.
Please kindly give your feedback if you know of any of the schools I mentioned.
Also, please suggest any montessori schools on the west.
thanks in advance.
My kids are in Kidzpro Tampines Montesorri, located at St 91. -
Hi dozalot
I drove past the place the other day.
It’s next to CHIJ St. Joseph’s Convent, St. Anne’s Church… -

Sorry for overlooking your post. My deepest apologies.
Anyway, i have PM-ed you already. I dunno if it helps
but let me know if you need further info or assistance
from me. I'll try my best..
Btw, Chief's girl is in Schoolhouse by the bay so it must
be good. Also you may want to check this out.

If this centre was nearer to my area of residence i would probably allow
my children to be enrolled there as well, and of course subject to the
teacher's calibre as well. Methodology and branding aside, the teacher
should be a kind and inspiring one... so feedback from parents here is
one help but seeing with your own eyes is definitely better. Cos ultimately
it will be your decision and personal preference of what you want for
your child and in which kind of school environment you wud be
comfortable putting your child into. Remember, when visiting any
centre bring your child with you...

Thanks buds!
Sorry, just read your pm. I will also pm you. Cheers :celebrate: -
