Yes. I have friend with children got in RI through tracks with zero background.. like I say, it depends on the sports. For running no foundation required so usually they will conduct a trial session for all the applicants. -

There are actually many who can run doing other sports, perhaps that's why they do not want to have too many restrictions. After all, they will just invite all on 1 day to trial and offer the top few with the best timing...also, tracks have many other fields like long and high jump..

It is unlikely for someone with zero competition experience to beat the NSG sprinters. Maybe for longer distances like ya lah. But sprinters and hurdlers need professional training one.

Yeah and provided that their academic results are also tip top which may indicate the ability and high possibility to join the school via PSLE anyway.
