If the FD accounts are in husband’s name and he passed away suddenly without leaving a will, and wife does not even know how many FD accounts he had and how much in each, what will happen to the money in those accounts?
If the wife knows he has a few FD accounts but not sure of the details, can she just show up at the banks with his death certificate to claim?
Any ideas? -

I don't see why not. Hopefully, it was willed to her as his wife.

Chief, if there was no will, is it as simple as showing up at the bank with his death certificate to claim?

Um... not too sure. But what you can do is to go to any bank with his death certificate, and some documentation of your relationship with him. Ask them to check if he has any account with them. They should be able to find out quickly and get back to you asap. The wife should be the default beneficiary on death of the husband.

Yes, if there’s no will, can bring yr documents incl proof of relationship to verify. That’s what MIL did. The bank will verify & send a mail to beneficiary.

With account holders with vast sums, I believe the bank will handle differently. I rmbr one of my staff had to post in all the news media obituary so to ensure all vested parties are informed in the event there are other inheritors coming fwd to claim & the court will then declare %tage of distribution of assets. -

If can satisfy payroll and credit card exp…I still find Uob One best. 5% excluding Card rebates. Can get more than 400 int/mth.

Not easy to get new customers, most people I know are consolidating accounts and credit cards for easier management.

Also, can be troublesome to change salary crediting.
