Called NJC for Music DSA. Was told that it will take 2-3 more weeks for update on Selection test conducted last week.


Just posting here so that people will know and not bombard school with calls

Background: got rejected by SOTA, RGS …wasn’t shortlisted for first round round also.

FYI - supporting documents for Hwa Chong shortlisting (Bilingualism Category)
- HCI DSA e-mail shunted into SPAM folder ! (unlike MOE-DSA e-mail).
- Need graded P6 h/w as supporting docs. Supporting docs requirements are made known AFTER start of June holidays === > Get docs BEFORE June holidays while teachers are still avail/in-country.
- Can use graded P5 h/w as supporting docs ===> Do NOT dispose of P5 h/w as child moves on to P6.
- Can use vids of performances as supporting docs to show case talent

Hello. Did your child get shortlisted? What to prepare for Billingualism, would it be an interview or a examination?

Hello everyone! Anyone that has experienced DSA Chinese or Bilingualism especially to Hwa Chong here? If they are shortlisted, are they required to take a test or interview in Chinese? What do I need to prepare in advance first for the test/interview?

Hi - The Kid was not selected for Bi-L. Instead he was selected for English (Humanities). Yup, HCI allowed multiple DSA tracks.

If you want to about HCI English/Humanities DSA selection, the Kid says:

The English DSA process starts with a written test of writing a poem. This poem was of the type where my child had to make one sentences with every letter used to spell a given word, each beginning with the letters of the written word. Ie: E... A... R... T... H... Note that the sentences had to be related to the word itself. The Kid wrote about how earth is abused by mankind, but other students wrote about the scenery and wonders of the earth. The test was followed by a group interview. Interview was on the child's fav book, and which char matches the child best. The Kid says he should have brought along a literary classic book instead of Harry Potter.

i'm waiting for DHS dance. called the school and they said they have yet to shortlist.
i know DHS band has shortlisted their candidates and trial this week. CO i'm not sure.
