Would like to clarify (as I am quite blur abt this).. is 材料作文among the list of choices for O level CL/HCL paper 1 compo?
I bought this book to familiarise (learn with my child) with the different themes key points. At the same time I saw the syllabus doesn't state材料作文as 1 of the essay types tested in O levels.
Anyone can help clarify? (Sorry if it sounds like a basic qn but I am really lost)

In GCE O level HCL zuowen Paper 1, there are two types of essay, whereby students need to write, to submit to SEAB invigilators, namely :-

a) short essay section :
Eg.
ask u to write an email

b) long essay section, whereby u can choose to answer

- either type 3 or
- either type 4 or
- either type 5 question number.
You choose, depending on your strength / ability, to write about.

Above essay book which you have already purchased, happen to fall under \"type 5\" question number, for long essay section.

If u not sure what I mean,
enter into any Popular bookstore branch,
flip through any HCL past years exam papers -

zoom into zuowen section ( Paper 1 ), take a look at any sampled

Long essay question number 5, u will be able to understand.

from Sec 4 HCL students who often choose or excel in answering type 5 question in long essay, is:-

you need to read widely,
so that can have the ability to formulate your own thoughts & opinion calmly, whether u choose to agree or disagree with the type 5 question topic asked.

Because

If one doesn't read widely enough, it will be a struggle
because
no input, no substance, no content, how to write / answer long essay type 5 question ?
