Hi Jolene, thanks for replying to my question.

Hi keas, I have sent u a pm. Thanks!
My reply to you is still in my outbox. Sorry not sure how to use the function. Some can be sent, some stay in my outbox forever. 😂

Anyway I understand that the result of interview differs for each child. Some are more or less confirmed before interview, some are rejected after interview.
If confirmed, CO would be sent quite fast within the next 2 days. Again, it could vary.

Not trying to dampen your spirits but in my girl sport that she dsa into NYGH, there was indeed no WL. The Sch did call and make sure you will accept verbally

          Hi,
So if 5 students void their DSA confirmation offers by NYGH for example, the school would rather leave the 5 places vacant?
Meaning to say that the following year for NYGH, there will be 5 students lesser?

DSA slots are shared across domains, not reserved for any sports or specific domain.

              Hi,

So ultimately, the DSA slots will still be taken up by some other students doing some other sports, right?

But for SSP, I do not think their DSA slots are shared across the various domains.

Hence, if some students were to void their DSA offers, they would rather leave the slots vacant.

Perhaps the coaches want to have more free time and relax also 😁😁

That is very unlikely to happen.
Also as an anecdote, there was a year NYGH did not offer any dsa offer for Chinese dance because the applicants do not meet their strict criteria. In other years, only 1-2 were accepted. No WL too.

                  Hi,

                  I perfectly understand your point.

But I am very sure that ultimately, the DSA slots will be given to some other aspiring girls from badminton, swimming, and so on, and they will not leave those slots vacant, right?

But for SSP, from their reply, the feeling we have is that:
\"Hi, even if some students were to void their DSA offers, we would rather leave those slots vacant, than to give your child a chance.\"

Very disheartening for a primary 6 child, I would say.

Never mind lah, as long as SSP is happy, ha ha 😄😄

I totally resonate with you as a parent if my kid is in same situation. There is always a silver lining? Think about why must go SSP and what is the loss if didn’t get to go? Not trying to discredit SSP here but not every or many athletes graduate out of SSP attaining their sporting aspirations. 2 of my peers kids - top 5 shooters in NSG but eventually not representing the nation and follow the usual path to go uni and drop the sport.

My child was offered a place at Singapore Sports School in 2018. I am writing to ask for advice on what the student culture of Sports School is like and how I can support her as a parent. Are the students there playful and addicted to phone games, or are they serious and conscientious in their work? I would appreciate it if parents could advise me on this forum or PM me so that I can see how to guide my child accordingly. 🙂
The student culture at Singapore sports School can vary, but it generally emphasizes seriousness and dedication to sports and academics, focusing on time management. Students are encouraged to lead a healthy lifestyle and use technology responsibly for training and performance analysis. To support your child, promote effective time management, stay involved in their progress, provide emotional support, encourage a well-rounded life, discuss responsible technology use, and seek guidance from the school and other parents as needed. https://ioniasports.com/
