Hi anyone has any updates from NJC aep 1st round aptitude test?
Seems to be taking quite awhile, wondering if invites to 2nd round interview has already been issued?
I don't know about AEP but for Music Aptitude test that was held on the 5th July , the interview is this Friday for my child.

If sports DSA, kid will need to commit 4/6 years. How about academic DSA? Any expectations or commitments needed?

Hi, this is 2nd round. 1st round was group team building activities followed by answer questions individually onto the laptop provided.
Hi Vivian, did your child apply for two domains in DHS?

              For academic DSA domain,
different Secondary schools have different expectations & commitment.

              Thus,
              best that

if your child gets shortlisted to attend an interview,
              get your kid to
clarify with the panel of interviewers this qn directly, towards the end of the interview,

when interviewers asked your kid, \" so, do u have any question for us ?\"

Yes I believe it’s less common today but still prevalent in only certain schools. There’s no O level class as the few will be asked to transfer school. It happens quietly. End of day, parents should know the child’s capability and choose wisely. I feel the DSA process is a good experience to find out more abt the domain you are keen on, and end of day, it can even help you to choose or not to choose that school or domain if you enter by grades. For us, we only try schools within capabilities of the child so that he/she can still enter by grades if no offer.
Except for these 3 IP schools
(RGS + National Junior College + River Valley High),

the rest of the remaining IP schools do have a natural automatic backup built-in mechanism exit plan,

                by identifying

end-of-Sec2 students to exit and get out of IP, fall back onto readily set up O-level preparation classes,
if any students are found struggling inside IP.

                Example
                =======

In Hua Chong & Nanyang Girls High, these (Sec 3 and Sec 4) O-level classes available terminology is called

                exit to \"Structured\" IP path.

Hence, there is already a life-line dangling rope extended,
                to
                needy end-of-Sec 2 \"casualties\", identified.

Hi, may I know if there is a site where I can check the annual intake size of the various school? Heard some (not-purely DSA) schools are taking in 10%-20% of intake via the DSA route. Just to have a rough gauge on the chances for my DS. Thanks 😊

Unfortunately, there isn't one place to check the cohort sizes of all schools. Generally, the IP schools are at 30%-35% via DSA, although some have mentioned up to 40% in recent years, and the non-IP schools are capped at 20% via DSA. I think some schools will be at these limits while others may be at a lower %, depending on the number of domains offered. Also, within the school it depends on the domain for which the student has applied.

If you ask around here, someone may be able to supply the figures (school X cohort size, school X domain size). Or try some Open House FAQ and/or slides/videos posted.

                    Good Luck!

IP schools around 30%-35% each year depending on the quality of the candidates they may get.
Attended one of the IP school orientation week parent briefings, the figures are aligned with this number.

Hi Momof2K, yes my child applied for two domains in DHS. Is there anything that you can share or I need to take note of? Or you can PM to my email: [email protected]. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.
