Yes. What you said is generally correct. But there will be some noobs who live more than 1km but die die must apply for that <1km school. As MOE just released the 2022 balloting data, we can tell that there will be a handful of people who could not bid for a <1km school.
...
So if MOE gives the percentage that need balloting, only the < 1km is totally accurate. Anything that is 1-2Km or > 2km all are not accurate representation right? -
Now I just checked MOE site it read:
Nanyang Primary School
Available vacancies in Phase 2C
43
Number of applicants
66
How can we tell out of the 66 which is <1Km or 1-2 or >2Km
It looks like for a top school, the odds are not too bad. Only 66 apply out of left 43 places? Is this interpretation correct? -

43 slots with 66 applicants, mean the only 23 will get rejected.
we can't tell. so it is like buying lottery. take a XXXXX.
Is this correct? I mean for a top school it seem not too bad. More than 43/66 chance to get admitted! -

sure. but do have a backup plan in case ended up as 1 of the 23. Don't forget there is still today until 4. so chances may increase.

some schools provide chairs and \"almost\" real time update of the numbers. (on a white board display)
then at 3:30pm, you see a couple walking towards the GO,
then the crowd will go a little unease.
within 5min, you see the couple leaves
out comes the office clerk and updates the while board.
\"+ 1 to available vacancies\"
(the couple came earlier to withdraw - not to apply)
then the crowd will cheer a little bit
got this unspoked camaraderie
just sharing an interesting episode in my otherwise boring life.
hahhaha -

thank God it is now all done via online. Can't imagine travelling from one sch to another sch to withdraw and submit application.

that's something to manage
thank God it is now all done via online. Can't imagine travelling from one sch to another sch to withdraw and submit application.
even with cars, you need proper carpark lots
can't just park on the main road and run into school also
but those were the days. (that is forever gone, with this online application in place)
i still keep in touch with some of the parents who cheered together with me, (when the couple withdrew their place.)
hahahahahah -
ACSJ and ACSP numbers as of yesterday seems low. Still got a lot of vacancies. Wonder how it would change today.
RGPS had 94 < 1km last year, doubt there will be a repeat this year for 112 places. -

If you ask me... it is very bad odds to bet against them having to ballot...
BTW... the next update from MOE is next Thursday 10 Aug. Till then, there won't be any update.
