I don’t think the computer is programmed to process the students more than once. Likely it only runs once. For it to keep running until all dsa offers are taken up, it would have to rank the schools and their respective lists. How could it rank eg RI and NUSH? Which one higher?
Looks to me that: COs which will be released to WLs are the ones given up by multiple CO holders.

Why do the interviewers always ask about the other schools the child has also applied to? Would that affect the chances of getting a CO from that particular school?

- i don’t think we can ban anyone from placing the CO as their 2nd choice, since as u said WL is unreliable. If they are feeling exceptionally generous (or really dislike the 2nd choice school), then they can always leave the 2nd choice blank (in which case the CO will be released) -

Some may say if the worst thing that ever happens to you is your WL is rejected (but there was space, yet you never even know this fact) and you are sent to your CO School, then you have lived a decent life.

Hmm but how to teach the kid to answer tactfully? it`s just a straight forward question and the answer is just listing down the name of the schools
