I don’t think the computer is programmed to process the students more than once. Likely it only runs once. For it to keep running until all dsa offers are taken up, it would have to rank the schools and their respective lists. How could it rank eg RI and NUSH? Which one higher?

Looks to me that: COs which will be released to WLs are the ones given up by multiple CO holders.

I.e. if someone puts 1st choice WL and 2nd choice CO, the CO is reserved for him/her only. It will not be released to others even if the WL is converted. The schools have likely already factored this in (even those schools which have DSA-only intake).[/quote]
Agree. I think this makes sense. It also means that the school may not get the max number of students intended for DSA, but I think schools are fully aware of this. They still can get prospective students coming in via PSLE score.

That’s why WL is risky because it depends on other factors, not only the vacancies.

If that's really the case, the WL is too unreliable. Even when there are still vacancies available in the school, you can't get into your 1st choice school.

Whenever someone places CO in the 2nd or 3rd place, it may cause a WL to be rejected.

Why do the interviewers always ask about the other schools the child has also applied to? Would that affect the chances of getting a CO from that particular school?

            - WL conversion also depends on how high/low the child is on the school’s internal waitlist

            - i don’t think we can ban anyone from placing the CO as their 2nd choice, since as u said WL is unreliable. If they are feeling exceptionally generous (or really dislike the 2nd choice school), then they can always leave the 2nd choice blank (in which case the CO will be released)

Yes my kid attended 2 interview, both schools posted this question to him. If our kids don't answer it tactfully it may affect the outcome, i guess .

Some may say if the worst thing that ever happens to you is your WL is rejected (but there was space, yet you never even know this fact) and you are sent to your CO School, then you have lived a decent life.

The world's got all kinds of problems and we are worried about this (perhaps not worried but thinking about it) 😄 .

                :siam:

Hmm but how to teach the kid to answer tactfully? it`s just a straight forward question and the answer is just listing down the name of the schools

Do all schools do a second interview for all the domains?
