Just wonder: if the school has decided to issue CO to the student after interviewing , will the school wait to see the student P6 prelim result before finalizing it?
I really don't think schools will do this cos it gets procedurally and logistically more complicated in their selection process, unless someone can confirm that there are schools that have done this in previous years? I believe most schools purposely release their DSA CO/WL towards the end of the stipulated deadline as they would want the students to focus on preparing for their PSLE/Prelims instead of telling them the outcome early on and resulting in them slacking thereafter.

I don't know for sure but I also highly doubt that schools are looking at the prelim results. One, many schools release results in late-August and not all of the prelims may be marked/returned yet. Two, one can do great on prelim and blow-up at PSLE or vice versa. More likely, the schools kind of \"know\" from a number of factors where a kid's range is (and whether that works for the school).

I've always wondered why MOE doesn't hold all of the results and release outcomes Thurs after the written papers end. Make everyone sit for the exams under the same context (may need the results for S1). But it is what it is and it's not wrong the way they do it now (you can say it's worked for X years).

Anyways, people should give DSA a rest for a couple of days and just focus on Oral. I think SOTA is out this week (looks like it was moved from Monday to Friday; not a bad thing in the context of the Oral timing). Others will start to trickle in over the coming weeks.

        Good luck to all!

          If you apply DSA by

          \"Academic\" subject domain

          or by

          STEM domain,

and if the Secondary school not sure whether to give u Wait list or rejection, possible that they may check your primary school Prelim results.

          But,
If the school already has in mind to offer u CO, they won't bother to check. Because they already desire u, to join their school.

Hi when you mentioned very average academically , I wonder how average it can be ? My DS p5 also very average , not sure if he stand a chance ? Thanks
Everyone's definition of \"very average, differs.

To me, if one were to score

            AL 10 to AL 18,

I would say, is very average.

            Anything from AL 17 onwards,
            like
            AL (17, 18, 19, 20, etc. ) is a ...
            weak score,

since the Cut off point for Express stream is at AL 20 ?

            =========================

If u scored AL 9 and below,
u actually qualify for \"IP\" schools, so it will be classified under \"better than average\".
            Example

River Valley High : with AL 9, you can still enter this \"IP\" school.

Temasek JC (IP) got one time, with AL 9, also can get in. But after that, TJC Cut off point somewhat improved, became AL 8 ?

His P5 and P6 results are around 14-15. I think this range can only go express. During the interview, they did ask if DS will still be interested to join the sch if they only offer him express instead of IP. Obviously my DS answered yes, with conviction 😆

Which school asked this? Is it a routine question to ask or they only ask kids whom they are interested to give co to?

It’s just a routine question. My son applied for O level and they asked why he didn’t want to apply for IP and whether he’s open to IP.

It’s routine because his results are only suitable for express only.

Not sure if this is a standard question but could be because its a dual track school and during the application we didn’t indicate any preference. Both VS and ACS asked this question. I think they’ll ask if they look at the student’s past result and it is above IP cut off point. FYI, VS conducted a group interview instead of 1-1 so I suppose its a general question?

Is the trend now mostly group interview? Or is it because too many applications so to save time, schools decide to just conduct in groups?
