All About Full-Time Maids

Anyone hired maids from TM Global and HR Consultancy maid agency? Do they provide good service? This is the first time I'm using their service, so would like to ask around.


May be getting a Myanmar maid from them, my friend told me that Myanmarese maid more teachable than Indonesian and Filippino maids. Is it true? Any mummies got experience to share?

I guess if u have to take a burmese and shes fresh, most likely u will encounter a language problem. Dnt expect them to know as much as the Indons and filipinas when they come in, they tend to lack initiative and common sense and are kind of slow. The good thing is u can grooom her the way u want and eventually she will know what is expected of her..
I think it will be wiser to employ a Christian burmese, they are brought up better and know some english. Oh btw, dnt trust the biodata when they state that their english is good.

Wish to seek some advice here.

My new Indo maid of 2 weeks (with home country experience) last night said she wanted to change employer. But this morning retracted saying that she does not want pay another 2 months of salary if going back to agen to change employer.

This is the 1st time I have encountered such a case. Have employed 3 maids before her, all completed contract with me. This latest maid has the easiest life per se as I have made all my household duties so simple that I can just put my only child in student care (P1) if presented with maid issues. My mom whom is staying with me nowadays also "bo-chap" the maid afte she read about the many maid horror stories.

Yet this maid give me such a crappy stuff. When she first came & I checked her luggage, she has much more toiletries and beauty stuff than me !! She will find every sinle chance to sit down & no initiative to help out. When I go home after work with bags of groceries, she will just sit inside her room & treat me as invisible. During her 3rd day with me she asked about any possible relaxation of off-day !!

Apparently she knows about all the ground rules: no off-day, no hp, if go back to agent employer need to top up 2 more monhs of loan, but yet she go ahead and say wants to change employer last night. But this morning said she wanted to work again & looked quite sincere !!!

My options are:
1. Send her back to agent, look for another replacement. But need to train all over again, but can be for better or worse.

2. Student care: My girl is in pm session, needs to reach student care latest by 8am which means she needs to wake up around 7.20am to wash up & take LRT. Worried that she might be too tired as after school she will only reach home around 7.15pm in the evening. Right now she does assessment given by me in the morning without much distraction. At student care centre there might be too much distraction.

if you were me, will you give this maid a second chance? What are the kind of ground rules to set? I did give her timetable & house rules right from the start. But still…

sorry could not suggest you what to do but currently i am having similar issue…


my new fil maid( 24 married with one yr old son) has been staying with us for 1 week. issues (similar as yours) so far:

- agreed during interview and first day in agent office that no hp is allowed as stated in house rule and she said she had no hp. however after arrived in our house and checked her belongings, found a secret handphone with sim card. i took the hp and kept it for now. but i am not happy. she is dishonest in the first day!

- yesterday evening (7th day), she asked me whether can have her hp. i was quite angry and told her it’s not allowed. i told her that you can go ahead to find another employer if you want but here in my home, hp is not allowed. she acted blur and after a while, asked me again for the hp to sms. it really made me mad.

- spent lots of time grooming herself. everytime we asked her to go out with us to do casual marketing, we wait for her for so long at door step but found she went to have shower and change new clothes! we wait for her for 15 mins before she gets ready. told her twice dont do that but still she will go showering everytime! my previous two maids never did that!

- acting blur all the time. most of the time when i say sometime to her, i never know if she really understand me or not. no feedback/reply/acknowledge. i have been trying to speak really slow, clear and loud.

- missing home all the time, everyday wants to call home. finished one sunshine phonecard within 3 days (50mins). today asked me to buy another for her. she will pay by herself though. although so far not affect her work yet…

contract says i cant send her back util 14 days. she does not make big mistake apart from these issues but so far i am not very comfortable. still dont know what to do yet.

but if i send her back to againt due to above reasons, who will pay the transfer fee?

Call the agent and tell her the maid want to transfer. At the same time choose your new maid.

I will not give second chance cos they will change their mind again. So, don't waste your time giving her chances.

Agree with shine_fs, that the expeditious thing is to look for a replacement maid asap.


My understanding and experience so far is that first few weeks the maid should be very eager to work/learn and show initiative. If they already show attitude or lack of initiative problem during the first weeks, it’s only likely to get worse.

So far, my 2 maids were very hardworking in the initial months. It is only after some months/years of working that they start to slack.

Rules are not meant to be broken. If one gives in on the hp part, then very soon, they will start asking about offday (for those families who don’t grant that).

As for phone cards, yes, they will pay for it themselves. Just bear in mind that this may escalate. My relative’s ex-maid had 3 hps and was on the phone constantly. Her salary obviously wasn’t enough to support that calling activity and she was dipping her hands into the employer’s handbag for $50s note and more.

You can't send her back but it din say you can't change maid, right? At the meantime, you choose your maid 1st. Once everything settle then send your maid back to your agency.

The maid will charge another 2 mths for transfer

I will tell my maid what time we will leave home and make sure she is ready by then. If not she will have to stay home...too bad...
