DSA 2023

If you turn down before days before 11/9 , the school has time to issue an additional co to the next kid in line and will his/her day and take the pressure off them( child and parents) . But, if itβs done after, the poor child will have to keep thinking if the WL will convert until November when he/she collects the psle results.

Actually once the official CO is offered.. I was under the impression that u will reject via the moe portal n sch can't reissue to another student before 11 Sep right? Perhaps I'm wrong.. But I had presume that the official Co is also submitted to Moe.. Not sure if it matters if its way before 11 Sep or just on 11 Sep

YouAreMySonshine - Good luck with the chat with ur DS.. Not easy decision but u guys are in a gd spot so don't second guess ur decision..
True Coolsotongmom.. That situation is tough and may have no choice but to hold onto the CO because doesn't make sense to forfeit when WL is a huge risk.. But in the case of 2 CO then I think most wld already have a pref or decision
Exciting and nervous times for everyone! -
To update:
ACSI robotics is out
NJC STEM interview list is also out <out 2 weeks ago>
(not sure if anyone has shared, in case some are still waiting β¦ -

In our case, we have told NJC not going for the interview. Hopefully, that helps and hope this gives next person in line a better chance β¦

:thankyou:
impressive portfolio! @kshroom, would like to know about your dsa strategies if you don't mind. π
Hmm I think we also got lucky cos Infocomm is still not as popular as other domains eg sports or Math. So am really thankful for the outcome.
If I were to summarise
1) supporting our child's passion and capitalising on his aptitude (eg encouraging self-exploration outside formal lessons, sending for appropriate skills training)
2) doing research to find out what our school of choice is looking out for in their DSA candidate (eg the relevant skills, competitions, projects)
3) reading up on the nuances of the DSA process itself (eg HCI requires portfolio submission so prepare one early, hearing from other parents how interviews are conducted)
4) understanding more about the school / CCA (going for the school openhouse, speaking to teachers and students at the CCA booth, scouring the school / CCA website)
5) prepping the child for the interview as it can be nerve wracking for a 12 year old but yet it can make or break the deal
Lastly but most importantly - the child must want it for himself and work together with us to support his endeavour. 100%.
Cos it determines the next 4-6 years of his life.
Hope this helps ππ» -

Congratulations to those who have received the CO! Can I check, does anyone know was it just track and field or all sports domain that VS has given the verbal offer? Thanks
