Obtaining RI CO signifies that the child is exceptionally talented. Such outstanding students often don't just receive one CO; he may receive COs for RI, HCI and NUSH.
Exactly....not many even if there are a few. So maybe, I mean maybe those few HCI COs (say A) will be given up to join RI, and A numbers of WLs will be converted. The chain effect will start from the top few and trickle down. Yeah but what I still don't understand is that , why would people forgo RGS or RI COs? And if the number is large enough to have such huge effect.. just wondering...
Choosing one of these means giving up the others, thereby opening up opportunities for the WLs at other schools. -

I have friends kids who give up RI for ACSI - perhaps they prefer IB track ?
I don't think anyone will give up RI CO, to be frank. -
There were students giving up RI/HCI, for Greenridge secondary/ CCHM. RI not a big deal to them

If you look that the cut off point tables every year, there are a lot of students with AL4-5 who chose to join neighbourhood schools, some down below the ranking table. They are not the majority but it’s not rare either.

True. This is not new. Even 35 yrs ago in my neighborhood school, the highest scoring girl was 274 if I recall. And there are several kids > 265!! (It was a “wtf!” 1st day of school for me that I can’t forget). So although elite schools are desirable to many, the cream will rise to the top eventually, wherever they are

It’s off topic; but do you know how are these 260+ 270+ laybacks doing now?
