I haven't seen the original picture either, but you're right, the metal directly above the flame would definitely be very hot.
Hmm…but if the metal piece is directly above the flame, wouldn’t it be too hot for it to touch? Then how does it serve its purpose as a handle? Do u mean it’s an open lantern? From some of the kids’ drawings, it seems to be a closed lantern. And it’s possible for the top part of the paper lantern to be burnt due to its close proximity to the flame.
Perhaps that lantern was designed to hang somewhere for decoration, and nobody is supposed to touch it

agreed. gravitational force is dependant only on mass and not weight.
Yeah, Newton is certainly correct.
However, the question didn't mention the relationship between velocity and mass. Regardless of the mass, the reason the basketball slows down is due to gravity. -
Dear parents,
Please take a little bit of time to read through what I wrote on used resources.
Thanks.
For parents who could be considering how to dispose of used resources

Thanks for your explanation.
This question asks you to choose the incorrect option, and 1) is that incorrect one.
As the ball leaves the spring and rises, there is no longer any push force acting on it. so its subsequent falling is not due to the push force being used up.
May I know if the concept behind this question is within the primary school science syllabus? Basically they were taught what force is, effects of force, what is weight, the type of forces etc. Is this concept within what is taught in primary level? Pardon my ignorance, My secondary school kid used what he learnt in upper level physics to explain this answer, which then Made me wonder. -

My girl said the answer is 1 , air is poor conductor of heat as she felt the air outside the lantern was a poor conductor of heat and not fast enough to take away the heat . She is also a AL 1 student for Science all the way since p4😂😂
For the lantern question, there is a metal wire. My boy said the answer is metal is a good conductor of heat… So not sure here whats the actual question. He is also a AL1 student for Science.. -
And also the air outside the paper is a poor conductor of heat. That s why the hear accumulates in the paper couldn’t be dissipated fast enough to keep the temperature lower than the ignition point.

The heat from the candle flame is transferred to the paper through the metal. Metal is a good conductor, while paper is a poor conductor, so heat accumulates in the paper, ultimately causing the paper to catch fire.
So, the correct answer should include both:
- Metal is a good conductor.
- Paper is a poor conductor.
Either option alone is incomplete.
This exam question seems to be flawed. -

True. 😅
I agree... the exam is over, and nothing we can do now can \"improve\" our standing
Since we don't have the exact question of what is being asked... it's impossible to guess what the right answer is.
We don't know the full qn and all 4 options.
Options are?
Metal is a good conductor of heat
Paper is poor conductor
Air is poor conductor?
???? -

a) Metal is a good conductor of heat
b) Paper is poor conductor of heat
c) Who cares, it’s over
d) All of the above -

I agree and don't really care about the scores; I just care about knowledge.
Exam over, kids and parents can finally relax. Go celebrate their effort.
One or two mcq, 2 marks qn will not be detrimental, unless anyone is aiming for full marks?
A kid i know, got AL4 in sci but in sec 1, kid got A1 for sci. Kid has been passionate for sci since pri.
Only from reading posts on qn here and there, I would choose paper is poor conductor. Without the actual qn, we are only guessing.
Even if my DS got some questions wrong, I want him to understand how he made those mistakes.
The exam is over, but learning should never stop.
