Hi fellow moms/dads. My daughter got bitten by one of our newborn kittens yesterday. Mommy kitten got rabies vaccine already but the kittens are not since they are only 2weeks old. Hubby said I dont have to worry about it but I still cant help overthinking and really wants her to be vaxxed just to be sure but she is really scared of needles. I need help convincing my kid to get vaxxed
You may have to think of something to divert her attention, so the nurse can proceed with the shot. When I was small, my mother always gave me a 🍭 or a Hello Kitty doll, etc and when I concentrated on these items, I was not aware the shot was done.

Think many will feel afraid of needles. Some may be extra afraid of it. For my kids they will say very scared… but they know they need to do it so no need coaxing on that, they have no choice but to follow instructions. .they will keep looking at it alternate with closing their eyes…but I will tell them not to look at it. I will then say not yet don’t be too anxious just preparation stage only…then I will bring them to talk abt other things till they feel the prick…it is too late then. If need draw more few more small vials of blood…I will tell them not to look at it and start talking abt other things till it is done.

Yucks... nobody likes needles. I only tolerate them in that just 3s of discomfort. I had a doctor who was so skilled that I didn't even know the needle went in and out in less than a second 😂 Then, there are those which will stay in for days for drips or intravenous stuff. Just don't look at them when they are going inside your wrist. 😓

Can give her candy or a gum before the jab so she can chew on it. Will help her divert attention. Can request for a bed too so she take the jab lying down. They will allow it especially if they notice how nervous/scared your daughter is!

Thank you all for comments & suggestions. Will do all our tips after I was able to convince daugther to go tomorrow. Will talk to her later before going to bed and try to offer reward or something. Wish me luck 🥺

Update: Got vaxxed already! Gave her gummies but didn't help much as she was still nervous so had to hold both hands to make sure she don't move. She cried after so we went to grab ice cream which helped her calm down. 3 more shots to go 😰

Yes, was schoked too coz I never had vaxxed before. If person got vaxxed already, can only get 2 jabs but since this is my daughter's 1st time, needs to get atleast 3. Dr said if kitten dies within next 3 days, will have to get 3 more but if not, will only need 2 more. Kitten is already isolated and under observation but as of now, still healthy ya. Need prayers 🙏
