I go by the fact that once u’re out of yr comfort zone (out of home-country) always hv some medication ready. If basic problems, at least hv sth at hand to resolve it immediately. If sth serious, at least on-hand medication help alleviate symptoms whilst looking for professional help in a foreign land.
More than a mth to few places must be very enjoyable :snuggles: no wonder you getting few med. A good plan.
Think in SG, we’ve good & easily accessible medical resources but in Europe, it’s not so str-fwd as u need to know where to get the right help & some of these places require prior appt! In 3rd world countries, u’ll want to hv that bag of medicine to tie u over whilst fly back home.
I don’t mean to think my medicine bag will be my end-all solution. Still hv be extra careful, observant with the level of critical needs & make early decisive move to forgo holiday to attend to yr health needs first.
In addition, always get travel insurance cover. It’s a must even with pre-existing conditions (NTUC Income covers pre-existing). -

With kids, we mum’s need to exercise extra care. I’ve learnt nvr to leave fever that hits 38 deg & seek help for professional assessment & treatment. In my younger days, my church used to hv carolling activities to bring songs of hopes & gifts of love to children in-hospital during the Christmas season.
Touch wood so far not much diarrhoea, flu, cough etc. Guess the exposure to places not as clean as SG helps when young? Dd2 issues for this year aside..they can have fever up to 41, take paracetamol for a week and still self medicate. One have recurring fever on monthly basis under a paediatrician for so long then only discovered it was due to an inflammation on another part of body and went for 2 surgeries to correct it as that particular function has not matured yet. Now ok already.
Another dd once her fever kept coming back then went to a home physician and diagnosed due to inflammation of an organ..so took his medicine and I asked if I should continue with my own fever medication. He has given me a valuable advice.. the root cause found, do I think if she still needs the fever med? Haha..true la.
….
As we visit children fr bed-to-bed, the one thing that sinks into my mind are children who had very high fever & brains ‘burnt’ leaving them mentally handicapped. It was really sad esp some kids, we were told, parents nvr returned to bring them home. That was yorns ago. Thankfully, our society has progress and medical care has also gone world class. Nvr leave children’s health needs behind, they’re our precious future! -
