With the AL point system, usually how many AL point difference ‘to catch’ in the next/last option, to be considered safe/safer, with reference to past years’ COP?

I don’t think there’s a definite answer to your question.

IMHO, schools’ COP in the single digit will, at most, move by 1 point. Schools in the low 10s will change by, at most 2 points whereas schools in the high 10s to 20s can change by as much as 4 points. However, COP is only part of the picture as rank placement also plays a big part now.
Hence, depending on how well your child do, and to be considered safe, the last option may have to go as high as +4 points from last year’s COP. -

If yes, will need chk further with you guys. -
On ranking of choices. It doesn’t matter right ie student A with AL14 put Z school as her 1st choice while student B with AL13 put same school as 4th choice. Student B will get admission first.
-
1- Anderson secondary -AL10
2- Kuo chuan Presbyterian secondary school- AL10
3- Edgefield secondary school-AL15
4- Temasek secondary school-AL13
5- Presbyterian high school-AL14
6- Temasek JC (IP)- AL9
7- National JC (IP)- AL7
Selected list… not in order yet since have to wait for her result… Haha… -

I m not sure too..coz when the AL system was abt to be introduced, it seems to be quite complicated and I didn't follow the discussion thoroughly.

Yes, that is correct.

The student with the higher AL score will always go first.
The “problem” with the AL score system, however, is that you will see a bunching up of scorers around 15 to 20 due to the way the AL points are distributed. Hence, rank placement for schools in that zone can become a lot more tricky. -
Floppy…I read again and this ‘However, COP is only part of the picture as rank placement also plays a big part now.’
May I know what is this referring to?
